Another option is set the house track at 3/4 tempo of the D&B track (so if the D&B track is 170bpm play the house track at 127.5bpm) and make a 3 beat loop on the house track and 4 beat loop on the D&B track. Instant polyrhythm.

As a drummer looking into potential DJing in the future, it seems quite mood and energy killing to transition from above 160bpm to below 135bpm. Would you not want to increase energy throughout the set?
@BeckySaifMusic7 ай бұрын
Not necessarily. If you did that, you would end up continually going up in energy and there's only so much "going up" people can take. It also depends on the time of day, the length of the set, whether you're the opening act or the headliner. For example, if you're the headliner, you'd probably want to come in with a lot of energy as an epic introduction. The reason you would take the energy down is so you can build it back up again and have greater impact. Hope that helps! It's not all of it but just some insight.

This clip should be Exhibit A against the argument that beat sync takes the skill out of DJing. Something like this would be practically impossible if you were trying to keep both both tracks in sync manually.
@BeckySaifMusic Жыл бұрын
Couldnt have said it better myself. Absolutely no shame hitting sync when there's this many steps involved and, as you said, keeping them in sync as the tempos move. Thanks for the comment. Made my day. 😁
@fibophi239 Жыл бұрын
I'd say this does not require more skill though. Think about it. The only reason beat matching on two records is harder is because you have to direct your attention in multiple directions. You use your ears to make sure the beat is matching while simultaneously having to keep an eye on both records and adjusting accordingly. Using important visual cues to make sure the song isn't finishing on one end and other random factors that could interfere with your mix (I'm talking here about weird and unpredictable stuff that can physically interfere between the contact of your needle and record). My point here is you have multiple focal points where you need to oversee in order to do a good job. It's not all in one place. While when using CDJ's or controllers, all attention is in one spot. Your visual indicator. Not having to rely on hearing to mix, considerably makes the job easier. Of course you can make more intriguing transitions like this that have multiple steps to take in consideration, which albeit is very impressive non the less, but for sure it is not as difficult. As a practical example, take cars for instance. An automatic is a lot easier to drive than a manual. And this is by just taking your focus off one element: your clutch, witch involves a certain finesse when handling. No hate though! As long the music is good who cares really. I really dislike this new age when all the focus is on the DJ and not the actual music.
@lolocaust4967 Жыл бұрын
@@fibophi239 I care because I want to see a talented DJ. A talented DJ (to me at least) uses less tech to do things for them. It's the same with turntablism too. Scratching has become predictable and boring, the same goes with regular DJ'ing too. There's not much talent to it now. The big thing thats been taken away from the skill is the knowledge of the tracks you're playing. You don't need to know the music anymore. You just watch a waveform and push a button at the right time. To me thats just dull.
@nathanielgarcia3962 Жыл бұрын
Who cares 😂
@fibophi239 Жыл бұрын
Fair point. But the argument was not what's more impressive but what takes more skill. For me, I like the the comfort it gives me watching a record spin on the turntable, can't really explain it, a bit like staring into fire. But that's just to my perception. Music speaks to people in different ways and means, so who am I to judge what excites a ''DJ'' even if it is waveforms. @@lolocaust4967

It's not cultural, or THE PATRIARCHY or oppression, it is how we have evolved. Don't be a gender abolishionist or a woke tool. I don't get men chasing me down the street, asking me to get in their cars anymore or forcing themselves on me sexually. So it's definitely improved for me. I'm just mentally exhausted from it all. Used to it is an understatement. Objectified my whole adult life with a shitload of trauma can really mess a woman up. Complimenting someone on their looks is a superficial and self invested compliment. Sadly, mainly thanks to porn and the internet as a whole, women are treated less with respect and more as a thing to f*ck.

Wow, that was great! And the DnB track sounded 🤘🏽. I started on vinyl and traktor and all that shit was not even a fart of a thought yet lol. This wouldnt even be possible back then, at least that fluid in live sense.

Straight up thought she was talking into a hair dryer in the intro. Was ready for some DJ parody but it was a real tip. ;D

I didn't want to give you a chance at first, then I said okay let me watch this stream, then the loud Heeeeeeeey I'm Becky how's it going. At that moment, I knew this set was going to rip and I was right, absolute banger of a set.

This is an example of why the sync button it's not only useful for begginers djs that can't beatmatch

When I woke up this morning, I didn't realize I needed to learn how to transition from drum'n'bass to house. I'm so glad I did!❤😊

Probably the cleanest DnB to house transition I’ve seen out of most of the content creators. Me personally I hate DnB to House transitions Keep em separated like a toxic relationship

Hello darlling, please answer my q do i need to count thous numbers (4,8,16) when im on transition like this?
@BeckySaifMusic5 ай бұрын

To all the people saying "finally a dj doing what they're supposed to" - fuck no. You'd never do this live. Kudos for being creative with the transition, but you just killed the party.

Loads of people do shit like this live. Particularly multigenre club DJs and multigenre mainstream artists doing a performance style showcase.

Finally a DJ on shorts that isn’t just pretending to turn dials and press buttons! This is awesome.

A house track is a piano sequence, that sounded more like a hard beat. Great transition though.

Do you use sync here to do a slowdown of both or did I misunderstand something. I don’t know how I would beat match two tracks and then bring them both down without doing that Transition was good!
@BeckySaifMusic11 ай бұрын
That's exactly the reason sync was enabled. The master track pulls the other when you move the tempo slider. 😁

@@BeckySaifMusic ok nice one. Lots of people have a chip on their shoulder about the sync button 😂 I always found sync really messy and have never used it but in this context that makes SO much sense Thanks for the reply. I’ll give this technique a go in the future :)
@BeckySaifMusic11 ай бұрын
@@asymmetricfuzion970 oh yes they certainly do. I personally wouldn't use it to beatmatch my set but if someone wants to use sync for that...I'm not gonna whack out the shoulder chip 🤣
@asymmetricfuzion97011 ай бұрын
@@BeckySaifMusic no of course!! I think because some people do use it for that it didn’t really consider it might have a more legitimate use 😅 thanks for tip!

I don't like this technique as much in this direction. But i LOVE using the same technique in reverse from house to dnb. Personally. Good job tho :)

Nope. You just hard cut the DnB, give it three seconds, then hit them with a sample that goes "not even Wensleydale?" hold it, let the crowd go wild, then slam on your house track. Try it and tell me it doesn't work better

I have heard a DJ transition from dnb to house in an actual set, but if it for some reason needs to be done, this is definitely the way to go. That was dope!
