I was lucky enough to have PLATO as a kid..lots of great games like this. Moria, Empire, Dogfight and more...in the early80s we had the net before it was cool!

PLATO is absolutely wild and fascinating.

How could you have PLATO as a kid? Wasn't it only available in universities?

@@nahuatl3092Nah, the PLATO labs were open to the public early on. The books & articles about the system talk about kids playing there.

That looks almost identical to the Omegaland game on the FSU PLATO system. Thanks for posting.

It's different compared to the Tower of Druaga. It's even different compared to Tutankhaum.

The game that is most commonly named as the first CRPG is Pedit5. Though there are rumours of earlier games. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZ6YZHyBqbFssNk

Yea, you just go deep in the dungeon fleeing from the boss and collecting gold/experience and magic equipment, until you're strong enough (100k+ Hits, 80m+ Exp imo) to take on the boss (the Dragon). Like the later Dragonstomper, you allegedly can just evade the Dragon? But I'm not brave enough to risk an account doing that ha. (Oh, and death is permanent like in pedit5, 0moria, etc)
@InstazomeASMR3 жыл бұрын
You may find this interesting: besides the 1st level, in this game, the enemies' level is determined by how much gold you have (what level in dungeon plays some factor, but essentially not at all in the big picture)

I found it via Cyber1, located here: www.cyber1.org/ - you can register for an account there, to get access to the system and a large quantity of games created for it.

Pretty annoying that the only way to play this is by signing up with your personal information. I wonder if it could be recreated for C64.

Level 15 demon? Level 20 death? Man, I hooe that isn't the first level. A reason I gog annoyed with Telengard as well. Better pacing needed.

There are certain video games the Ultracade video arcade game machine doesn't have, such as the 1976 video game called Stunt Cycle. It has different game controls. 🎮
