The big flaw in this test is that the Kharod's main advantage over the Dnipro is at range and with recoil, which is irrelevant running the monolith hotel gauntlet. But for the hole puncher option adding some to Kharod's column, this test should favor Dnipro with its better economy and damage for body shot kills.

I think range is pretty irrelevant in these guns, Dnipro has dmg drop off at 200 metres vs Kharod at 250 metres. I don't think enemies are even spawned at those ranges, Dnipro's 29 dmg vs Kharod's 18 dmg is what makes Dnipro better any range in late game, for me higher recoil isn't issue in single fire, even at longer ranges.

I also like keyboard noise. Maybe he should stick a microphone near his computers cooling fan as well. Proper ASMR. I’m glad I don’t hear mouse clicking tho. It’s not as pleasant and aural as keyboard clicks. Silent click mice are the way to go.

You can get a Dnipro in perfect condition in the Red Forest. It's always there. I think it's a train station or like a warehouse but there are zombies and a controller.

I never switched to either of them. I used the clusterfuck M416 to the end of the game. That thing is op. Highest AR damage, built in sniper scope, nearly no recoil, extended mag with 80 bullets and a surpressor when you fully build it. Only downside is semi auto fire but I always use semi so it's not even noticeable for me.

I've used both a lot and I gotta say I prefer the Dnipro mainly because it has paired magazines and the Kharod doesn't. I like the faster reloads a lot more than 15 extra bullets per magazine, plus the bigger mags reload slower. Kharod still reloads relatively fast with extended mags if it's not empty, but partial reloads with paired mags are very fast.

When I choose an Assault Rifle, I choose an Assault Rifle that is more pleasant to shoot, not an uncomfortable shotgun as my main weapon with the ability to switch to an Assault Rifle. Especially when you play with the crosshairs disabled, the Holemaker becomes even less useful. In such a situation, I don't want to use the Holemaker even against mutants, I'd rather have the Saiga as a secondary weapon.

Having crosshairs disabled is a choice, this isn't Metro ranger hardcore, though I kind of wish it was sometimes :). Getting headshots with the laser on your gun is super realistic/awesome, kind of wish laser was very accurate in STALKER 2. That being said, Dnipro is the better pure assault rifle, Kharod can flex into infinite durability shotgun and grenade launcher is great if you fund buying its ammo. Holemaker has a high skill floor/ceiling to make it effective vs exos, but it does allow the Kharod to point blank 1 tap and it is great vs mutants. I don't use the Holemaker as a primary weapon when I run a Kharod, I use a Kharod as a secondary utility weapon that can flex into literally any role I need aside from long range elim weapon.

@@IcedCoffeeGaming Disabling the crosshairs is definitely a choice that I personally made for many reasons. But I advise you to try it, it's a completely different experience. It's true that the laser sight helps, especially when the crosshairs are off. But the laser sight has its drawbacks, such as the fact that it points not at the point where you will hit but next to it, making headshots a difficult task even at short distances. Therefore, even with a laser sight, it is very difficult to shoot accurately without aiming. And the Holemaker doesn't have an aiming option. It's good that Kharod's attachments are important to you. I agree that Holemaker has its own, quite big, advantages. But these advantages are not important for everyone. Personally, I tried using Holemaker and didn't like it. For a shotgun, it has too few rounds of ammunition, switching fire mode during a battle is a bit more difficult than changing weapons, and it lacks of sights. I also don't like the look of the rifle with Holemaker. I think visual aesthetics are also an important factor. Speaking of personal preferences, I personally like the x2 sights better than the holographic ones.

I run the Kharod, Sledgehammer, and APSB(silenced). I may swap out the kharod time to time with the dnipro, but I stuggle with range for whatever reason with it. May be just a feel thing. I constantly swap guns depending on the range and scenarios. You mentioned "primary", and I found that odd. I consider all my guns primary for their best use scenario.

They are effectively the same (earliest both upgraded at Yaniv station, both need 2 headshots to exoskeleton-clad enemies with AP rounds both have suppressor, extended mag, red dot, x2 and x4 scope attachments) and difference largely in utility: - Kharod has slightly better range and accuracy + Holemaker makes it a 2 in 1 weapon and firing Holemaker doesn't lower Kharod's durability. - Dnipro is lighter, does little more damage (~50% more than Kharod with ammo conversion, but still 2 headshots for exo kill but better for body shots and mutants), gets access to coupled (dual) magazine, which makes reload very fast (far East part of Cooling Towers area, at unmarked checkpoint blocked with breakable planks, inside the bag in the corner). Acquisition is not that different too: - Dnipro you can get from a bunker in Red Forest (follow the road North from Rostoc, after a bridge, at the first fork do a hard right - you'll run into concrete wall and the key is in a trench on a table next to a helmet nearby). Go in light as there's a lot of expensive guns to sell and have a few Psi-Block pills with you to avoid any issues. - Kharod is North-West from decomissioned vehicle graveyard at the bottom of the dam in Yantar. (Code for the lock is on the green trucks with symbol in each corner of the vehicle graveyard). You also can get decent quality Saiga in South-West part of vehicle graveyard, doing a quick bus hopping puzzle.

I ended up using both of these weapons pretty interchangably post the midpoint of the main story. The Kharod taking the underbarrel attachments is a point in it's favour for sure but the fact that it ends up taking 3 headshots with base ammo to put down an exo means that you end up needing AP rounds to maintain a 2 shot kill which will wear out the gun faster in the long run. The Dnipro lacks those underbarrel options and the calibre conversion isn't available until Pripyat but at that point into the game I personally prefer it thanks to the 2 shot kill with base ammo. Lacking the holepuncher does hurt but that's what the Saiga is for. I didn't really run into ammo problems with either weapon but that's because I hunted down pretty much every stash and didn't sell any ammo during my playthrough, meaning I had a few stacks of 7.62 by the time I was regularly using the Dnipro. Long winded way of saying I came to a similar conclusion as you. Dnipro being the better rifle but the Kharod having the advantage of flexing multiple roles depending on what you need for the situation.

I kept picking up ALL ammo regardless of which gun I was using and just stockpiling it in my stash. Then whenever I wanted to try out a new gun chambered in a caliber I hadn't used a lot, I had hundreds of rounds ready.

I didn't do the caliber conversion on any guns in this game. From mid-game-ish, I was using Clusterfuck and the SPAS-12 until I got the Dnipro and the Saiga. Would swap the Saiga for the SVU-3 depending on range. And I suppressed everything I could suppress. Even used the console to get the suppressor for the SVU-3. At the end, of course I used the fancy Dnipro w/the Comp M2 and the fatboy can. All the under-barrel stuff was too cumbersome to use, for me.

Yes. You can see the stats in the google doc sheet he links in some of his videos. Dnipro and Kharod have equal AP (60%, 66% with upgrade) and with 5.45 Dnipro hits harder (23 vs 18). Only at unrealistic ranges (above 200 meters) will the Kharod's advantage in damage drop-off matter to start giving it a lead in effect per bullet. The issue is actually getting two headshots, which Kharod is much better at.

Yeah I haven't used it much but the hole maker seems pretty powerful. I still like the dnipro more since it has a silencer earlier, the 4x acog is great and bullpup makes me feel like I'm getting into stride in Killing Floor commando but next run the kharod looks pretty cool.

Underbarrel shotgun good in paper but for me it has two major drawback (one if you use standard key binds): 1. Shotgun going turn off after using consumables and after switch weapons; 2. It mess with mine key binds because developer make some binds unchangeable (don't wanna go to make manipulation in text files).

@@Blackamena Usually full stealth isn't very viable, but I found the suppressor mostly useful to take out a few guys before being spotted. Like being spotted is basically inevitable in this game, but if I manage to take out 3-5 guys with qiuick headshots before they see me, that's enough use for the suppressor.

I couldn't use the dnipro full auto and consistently land headshots, especially late game where almost everyone you fight is in a dimly lit room with just their head peaking out. They're both 1 shot head shot with AP, no point in using the gun with worse handling.

Hot take, the Buket S-2 is fucking great and it's by far my most used weapon. You get the ammo for it everywhere and it's extremely accurate with no recoil and more dmg than some rifles. Throw a scope on that thing and it's essentially a rifle lol, other than that I'm a big fan of the Kharod over the Dnipro, that's just a looks thing though

@@orion1204 if you need money before pripyat go from cement factory straight up to the cooling tower location there is big building here with top level enemies spawning each time you come here easy loot and you just run 500-600 meters to trader there is monolith antenna in the center with stash if you can't carry all the weapons you can leave them in this stash, also it is easy to shoot everything from this position

its important to note that not every weapon costs the same to repair per percentage, some are BASE more expensive than others. so you have to compare cost per 1 % durability loss. this can be done by repairing to 100% then firing 1(one) shoot, and seing wich one costs more. ALSO theres a way to get a DNIPRO by killing the "legendary" stalker at garbage in one of the POI, hes giving "advice" to rookies (they are all awfull advice)

Kharod is hands down the best "all around" weapon in the game. Dnipro is my second pick. You can carry two attachments the grenade launcher and shotgun which are both highly effective. The grenade launcher will wipe out four or five heavily armored guys walking through the Zone easily.

Clusterfock has 600 weapon durability. 600 shots before it breaks on STALKER difficulty. Dnipro has 1800, Kharod has 1900 with caliber change, or 1500 at base. When I finally found one, I had literally just spent like 80000 upgrading my Ram-2 to use it as my main shotty. The Ram-2 works pretty well mid-late game IME but I will probably switch to the Saiga before entering Pripyat.

Both weapons are cool but whats durability worth if you make loads of money off dead enemies to repair your guns and armor. Dnipro is just so much more satisfying at all ranges. Semi for ranges out past 20 meters and full auto when in CQB. Sure having that attachments are nice but you hardly used the Kharod at all. Pretty much a Saiga or Ram would be the better shotgun in that situation.
