I know multiple people will come here and mentioned your videos are awesome. But yeah that's true. Since 2 days, I was searching in Packet analysis of the DNS, and this is what I needed, Perfect.

Man these videos have been great!! If I see another Wireshark video on how to create filters I'm going to lose it. What good are the filters if you don't understand the data? Nice job on these videos and thank you very much!

why dot is not represented in DNS packet rather 03 and 02 hexadecimals are used?

Ive been trying to find out if I can just let Wireshark run all the time on a monitor without actually capturing packets, this is because as you know it eats up all your RAM pretty fast. I just want to have a overview of my home network which protocols that are going in and out of my network, I also have Glasswire running all the time so I would like a visual and a more technical up and running all day, every day. is this possible?

Your best option is to configure Netflow on your router and export the data to a collector, Than you install software such as PRTG to collect that data and view it.

@@teefafeedies So you are saying its not possible on Wireshark to do what I ask? Because if you dont know I would hope Dan would answer if he sees this. Eventually I will try different better and more expensive network monitoring such as PRTG,Solarwind NPM if I can afford this home. So I'm planning on setting up for NetFlow on routers, traps on switches and set up a a server that can send and receive SNMP such as with the TFTP sw for severity warnings and such.

I don't think it is not meant to run all the time, but you could do it for a period of time to get a decent sample and establish baseline for a certain time of day

@@danscourses hmm,I'm beginning to think its not possible either. Thanks for the reply tho.

Hello sir, Can you please help with how to capture packets of a particular application like facebook or youtube and then save into .pcap file?
