I'm just going to put my fob under my hat. Thanks for sharing this information with your users. I will keep my thoughts on the problem to myself. There is Canadian KZbinr (GP Outdoors) who had his truck stolen because of this tech. It's no joke. They saw his truck, followed him home, and used a device to extend the range of his fob and in the morning he discovered his truck was missing. They believe it was put into a container and shipped out of Canada to somewhere far away. I will stop commenting further. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

In Florida were going to the Swamp Buggy races and we stopped at a Wells Fargo and used the atm machine. In a few days we get a call from the bank and our debt card was compromised. Then we thought back to where it could have happened. Then we remembered there was a guy in a van and he had a card reader on the machine. We had that happen so many times while living in Florida. Everything is fine here in Missouri, so far. Line that box with lead.

Rick if you have the pouches. Look inside. If yours have two compartments put your key in the silver section of the pouch and close the pouch. It should work then. My latest ones work like that. Ride safe bud.

Paul" Part of the "Faraday" effect is that the shield (conductive shell) of the box or baf, is should be connected to a good Earth Ground. That way, any Electro Magnetic Field radiation, will be conducted to ground and "killed." That works with EMF going in or comming out. Your Aluminium foil works, because Al is more magnetically restrictive - you might say "Dense" _ Than the coper foil on the box or the mesh of the bag. In the case of the products you bought, the foil or mesh becomes a sort of antenna for the fob signal, so it still gets out, only in a much weakened state. we could talk about this stuff for hours, if you want to, but I think you've found the solution to your problem. I really enjoy your videos about how things work, or get done. I've learned a lot over the years. Thanks!

That’s great info Jim. I’ve had those Faraday dooflickies over a year now and only today did I even question if they actually worked so did the test and of course they don’t work lol. I even put the fob in its little case and then I put in the box which should be double protection and I could still open the door. Utter garbage. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope all is going well on your end.

Paul, What if you lined the box with Foil? And also the pouches would that work. My autos are older so I really don't have this problem. But I am with ya on this. You work all your life for what you have you pay big money for stuff you have. Here where I live we have valuable stuff too my Wife is priceless to me and I will protect her. My tools are valuable as is my Hatchet collection. Somebody comes to my house to take my stuff maybe in for a repair at the local ER 45s and 40 cals do leave fairly big messes. Moral of this don't monkey with someone else's monkey. Stay safe folks.

What I learned from my old RCMP friends, yes there are still some trustable old guts is to put a hidden battery disconect which you can set when you park in unsavoury places. In Ontario and many US places this works well as the thieves work fast but any hold up in time means they skidaddle and find an easier target. The hidden disconect should be out side the vehicle anywhere unsuspious. These disconnects disconect the ignition module like an error code and she won't start. Now if it is a Chysler don't worry it won't start anyway.
@78633488 ай бұрын
Yes I’ve done similar things with some of our vehicles but with these new Broncos they are online all the time. So many computers in them now. I got in one time last year and it told me not to use it for 15 minutes because it was in the middle of a live update. I can tell where it’s located by my phone. Start it from anywhere. All other kinds of data available to me but can’t stop anyone from steeling it lol. The world is gone completely mad.

Not surprised that box doesn’t work, definitely good advice using the foil. what I am surprised about is how far that fob works from. My wife’s Dodge Journey you gotta be right there at the door for it to work, and it only will unlocked the driver door for safety so no one can jump in your passenger seat. I didn’t know that they can try to steal the signal whenever, I thought it was just when you were using it. Learn something new. Glad to see you guys back and doing well.
@78633488 ай бұрын
Yes they can steal the code and that’s why there’s Faraday pouches. Same with credit cards. They can steal them as well without taking the actual card. I’m hoping this video will bring more awareness to the issue. Thanks for watching. Hope you’re doing well.

I leave my 2023 F150 key in a Faraday bag under my back seat in a lock box. It works as otherwise I could never lock the truck as it would think I am inside. As I have a key code to enter the truck if I ever lose my key, I can get the spare under the back seat.
@78633488 ай бұрын
Do you have intelligent access to get in it? If you do put the faraday pouch with the fob in it and touch the door handle. If the door unlocks then the pouch isn’t doing its job. I also have the keypad. I just need to find a way that my fob can’t be read while it’s in my pocket.
@steveott18848 ай бұрын

Paul by I never understood why they got rid of the key to start the vehicle. This issue is this push button ignition and why can't you disable the key fob when you leave the vehicle. Dare will be some crowd now over to Dollar Store buying up tinfoil to wrap up dare keys.

Well you are absolutely right. Although vehicles were stolen back then they were harder to steal so our technology has actually went backwards in that department.

Me Bean has it figured out. He has a latch with a pad lock. I think auto manufactures should give customers an option 1) keyless entry or 2) keyed entry as in the old way. I for one would actually buy a keyed entry if I could get it. It looks like you faraday gear is attenuating the fob signal at best rather than blocking the signal. Be interesting to put a cell phone in your faraday box and try to call it.

I think it was Land Rover who were developing a system whereby the key would just switch off if it didn't detect any movement for a period of time. That would stop scanners picking the code up while the vehicle was parked up at your address. There's really no reason for the key to be broadcasting 24/7. Try lining, or wrapping, your box in foil too!
@78633488 ай бұрын
Land Rover got that part figured. Over here you just can’t keep them working. I guess to be fair Ford got their issues as well. I’ll get this issue figured out then do an update video.

Well the pouch is for the fob. The idea of having it is to prevent some scammer from gaining access to the code while it’s on your person. That being said, after the video ended I put the fob in the pouch and then into the Faraday box and I was still able to get in the vehicle with the intelligent access so it was a complete failure. People including myself need to not assume all of these things are created equal and test them as soon as they receive them.
