They are available in all colors, inexpensive, and they are supposed to keep mosquitoes away through essential oils and suitable for children. That sounds tempting, because carefully applying bugspray all over your exposed skin is a bit annoying.
We tested two of these anti-mosquito wristbands in a cage with 200 female yellow fever mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti). Our mosquito specialist Max holds his arm in the cage with the wristband that was freshly removed from the packaging. The mosquitoes are unimpressed and he gets countless bites within a few seconds. His skin was only protected directly under the bracelet.
Personal conclusion: Anti-mosquito wristbands look good at best, but they don't keep mosquitoes away!

It's really a shame that this useless devices are being sold - and even more advertised, especially with kids. :( These wristbands won't ever scare a mosquito away from you. They will at most protect the skin right underneith from being bitten - if you fix it relatively tight around your wrist.

They don't have yellow fever. We breed this species (yellow fever mosquitoes is just the common name of the species Aedes aegypti) as well as tiger mosquitoes in our labs for our tests on our mosquito traps (which are especially developed to target mosquito species which transmit diseases) as well as our research on anti-mosquito devices and mosquitoes in general. So doing tests and getting bitten is just everday life for our lab staff ;D

ohh ohh nows my time to shine i know the answer to #1!!! so first you dont mow your yard for a couple months in the summer, then you step outside in a short sleeve shirt and do a T pose for a few minutes. Mosquitoes will swarm your arms. At that point you just have to carefully bring one of your arms to your face and gently vacuum up the mosquitors off your arm into ur mouth, then repeat with the other arm and keep going back and forth until done. It'll take a little practice before you can safely do so without swallowing mosquitoes but eventually you'll get real good at it. once your mouth is filled with 200 mosquitoes you just go back inside and bazooka them into your mosquito tank

Thank you for this video. Having worked for almost 20years in a Travel clinic I can only applaud this vid. One small remark however: mosquitoes causing yellow fever, malaria dengue and zika are very small and their bites DO NOT HURT. They are a lot smaller than ‘our’ common mosquitoes, but exactly because you do not feel them they are able to attack in huge numbers, and can remain sucking your blood

I visited india and I personally found mosquito wristbands helped - however they were plastic/silicone ones that I believe were actually coated in a repellent substance

The reason mosquitoes make you itch is because when they bite us we have a mild allergic reaction,most of us. There are people that are not allergic to them and the bite would not itch. Not saying he’s one of them but these people do exist.

my wife & I moved to Chapala Mexico (Near the lake) last year...The best thing she has found to stop the itching is most definitely "Colgate toothpaste" applied asap...she swears by it, as hundreds of others do also !!

You can scratch or pinch somewhere else on your body and your brain will believe that you scratch where the itch is. Helps also with wounds. As soon as you have scratched the itch it will be harder to keep away from it though.
