I worked on avionics in the Air Force. I tell you that you can transmit a radio frequency that is not in the range of what a human can hear but it will alter their mood. Never tried it on a bass but I have seen it work on humans.

Being from the coast I’ve definitely heard of selling way points. The pic thing was funny. A buddy and I was fishing with a guide and he caught a good one. He was holding it to take a picture, and as I was doing it, the guide hollered at me to change positions and he moved the boat around so we didn’t get this tower in the background because he said everybody would know where we were at.

Buying waypoints is fine if it’s not for tournaments. I don’t get it though. I own and captain a saltwater fishing outfitter, and while the ocean is a bit different than lakes and rivers, I’d never give anyone my spots. I always get clients saying “wow, I should get a boat and come do this myself”. They usually don’t understand that we’re a hundred miles offshore, don’t understand the weather patterns my crew and I are watching for, and have no clue how to find tuna/shark/striper/mahi etc etc, im not really worried about them stealing my spots. One guy asked me if it would be safe to go out there with with his 19 foot bass boat. An hour later we we’re coming in on 15’ swells (which isn’t that bad on a 35’ Boston Whaler center console fishing boat), he got his answer though, he was almost shitting himself at a few points, and threw up multiple times. It really wasn’t bad at all, some people just don’t do well with constant rising and falling. I don’t know why I went on a tangent, bad weather all week kept us from fishing. I think I’m going crazy. But yeah, I wouldn’t do it, but I have no problem with them being sold outside of tournaments, which I also compete in.

I’ll repeat what I said in another comment below: But theres an easy fix here, honestly. Make every tournament pro delete all way points they have on the lake/river day one. Have staff confirm every gps/fish finder is clear before practice starts that week. Then they have to build their own waypoints database every season I mean hell, Im not a “pro”, but I fish tournaments, and have won multiple for different species, most recently a Striped Bass tournament, and I’d be fine with having to wipe data for the area beforehand. I damn well should be able to find fish with a new damn ranger 21’ boat with talons, spotlock, 3 damn fish finders, and livescope! If we can’t, we have no business fishing!

In many high level competitive events especially ones that have big money involved, people will go right up to the line and stand on it to get an edge. It’s human nature for some to look for an edge even if it may be considered cheating.
