Still loving this type of editing. I own so many gloves. Just when you find a pair and you want more! They are gone. I could tell you I have a pair from 24 years ago that I use during winter, but this year my right hand index finger got cold this year

Thanks a bunch. It kills me when I see a glove that has a ton of glowing reviews that seem like people really like them…and they’re discontinued or they make an updated version that people don’t like as much as the previous version.

@@RestlessMule gloves are like athletic shoes. you buy version 3 and love the shoe and go back an they are on version 4. then i go to ebay to see if someone has old stock. gloves are not like that. so i have 3 to 5 gloves for each season all different. replace when i hate them the gloves fail and i cant fix them myself. good luck finding "the glove" as i am still looking for " the tobacco". i feel like when i find it.... it will be a tin of tobacco that is 10 years old and they dont make that tobacco. those gloves were Joe Rocket full gauntlet glove with padding and worked up to this last winter in one finger. i will guess it will be three fingers by next year. lol

@@BlakesPipes that’s a very good analogy. For the last 5 years or so I’ve plugged along getting the same updated “model” or version of athletic shoe each time mine wear out. The majority of the time I don’t like the way it looks, but I at least know they’re comfortable for me because they haven’t been making big structural changes. Lol Non-athletic casual shoes? Yeah, I believe I’m on my 5th pair of the exact same model of casual shoe over the course of the last 8 or 9 years. When these wear out I’ll look for my sixth pair of the same shoe. Can you tell that I tend to stick with a product when I find one that I like? 😆

@@RestlessMule I think that is bring a man. Once we find something we deem exceptable ,we stick with it as long as they make it. We don't like change. It's funny, I use to wear a uniform to work, dark blue collared shirt and tan pants. I would go to Walmart and buy 10 shirts all the same and ten pairs of pants all the same. People were amazed how I was so simple. I said I am here fro the job, not my clothing, this is what you ask, this is what you get. So easy to get dressed in the morning! 😂

Well, you mentioning that your old gloves stink after a few uses in the summer time has me now self-conscious and I’ll be smelling my gloves in the near future. Also, RIP to the bugs on the windscreen. Since you ride in Texas, I’m sure that was really just one HUGE bug. Nice old school Batman transition! Hahaha The Return on The Restless Mule. Having a bike is a great start but the right helmet and gloves complete the process. Gotta be comfortable when you ride. I hear everyone changing their seat for comfort and aesthetics but not too many talk about a good set of gloves and a helmet for daily wear.

Dude, the bugs. 🤦🏼♂️ A few days after I shot this video I washed my bike and was excited about how clean it was. I went for a ride that afternoon and by the time I got home you couldn’t even tell I had washed it bc of all the dead bugs. I imagine in your line of work you’re immune to the smell. You probably catch a whiff and think “man, something smells like my SCBA mask.” 😆

@@RestlessMule You know that washing your bike, truck, or any other vehicle is like a magnet for bird poop and bugs. Just showing their jealousy that’s all. I washed my bike at one point last year and though it would be nice to air dry the hidden spots by taking a trip to the countryside. Right at dusk… Needless to say, I washed it again the following day.

The absolute GOAT of moto gloves (they have both track and street options) are from a brand called "Five Gloves." Fortnine did a video on them a few years ago. They are very reasonably priced, use top notch kangaroo leather and the best part of their products is that all but like 2 models of their 20-30 different designs come with actual scaphoid protection rather than those stupid "D30" palm pads like A-stars have, or even worse, the extra layer of leather that cheap gloves have. The scaphoid is the most commonly injured part of your body in the event of a wreck and its important to have some sort of hard puck/slider there. Think of it as frame sliders for your hands. They fit very well (more of an american size, so size DOWN from what you'd normally wear from revit, dainese, etc). The leather is real and actually smells good, and despite riding in full gear year 'round in chicago (where summers regularly reach 90-100 degrees), they dont really get clammy either. Honestly my only gripe about the company is that theyre hard to find. Cyclegear/revzilla dont carry them. I think sportbike track gear might? I usually end up buying them on ebay. I have several pairs in different colors and patterns and theyre one of two brands of gloves that I'll ride in now, the other being "racer" which are made in germany and very well designed too, but kinda pricey (along the lines of "knox" pricing).

Thanks for all the great info. A friend recently mentioned Five Gloves to me and he also brought up that Fortnine put out a video about them. Those hot temps are definitely a concern for me as well since it's common to get 100+ degrees in the summer here in Dallas.

I've owned most common high end race gloves (Astar's GP Tech V2, Dainese Full Metal 6, Five RFX Race, Held Phantom 2, Rev It Jerez 2, RS Taichi GP EVO etc.) and I'd say the most comfortable gloves out of the bunch I currently have/ previously owned were the GP Tech V2 and RS Taichi GP EVO, but both are $200+ - I'd recommend looking at RST Track Tech EVO's, I've tried them before and while a little bulky still offer good dexterity and excellent protection and should be within budget! Also many Isle of Man TT riders race in them so if they are good enough for them, they'd be good enough for me!

So I’ve had a fair number of riding gloves, and a few different styles, with two new pairs waiting for break-in right now. A-Star SPX Air Carbon - bad fit, fingers too long and narrow, knuckle protection too rigid and bad alignment. Palm material was uncomfortable too. Quickly replaced. Sedici Castro - Comfortable as hell, but they were cheap and it showed. Decent entry level knuckle protection, but basic of basic otherwise. Palms held up surprisingly well. Reax Castor Perforated - better build quality than the Sedici, on par with the quality of higher end gloves. Not as comfy as the Sedici's but better leather and very durable. Fit was slightly off, fingers slightly long for my hands. Reax Fly Mesh - worse fitting version of the Sedici Castro but has a palm slider. Fit was small and did not loosen during break-in. A-star GP Plus R - Good full gauntlet glove, but fit was inconsistent. One hand broke in better than the other. Wrist strap is too short and kept coming out of the loop. Great protection, just wish the build and sizing was consistent. Dainese Steel Pro In - Love these gloves. Fit had me worried at first, had to size down from the size chart recommendation, but glad I did. Top tier leather, top quality protection, and they broke in to fit my hands perfectly. Zero complaints with these gloves. Love them so much I just bought the Steel Pro full gauntlet gloves and the 4 Stroke 2 gloves. Neither broken in yet, reviews to come later. Rev’It Summit 4 H2O - Got these for colder and wet weather riding. They do the job and are comfortable enough. Has good protection, quality is up there, just not my preferred gloves. They’re a solid choice for wet/cold gloves though. Had to size up from the chart, and did have a liner issue on the first pair. Got a quick replacement and have had no further issues in 3+ months of cold weather riding. For reference, I’m a year-round rider in Southern New England on an ‘05 Ducati Monster 620ie Dark. In 6+ years of riding I’ve progressed through a few helmets, a handful of riding shoes/boots, couple pairs of pants, and have 6 jackets hanging up. Maybe I should go to my moto channel and do some gear reviews of just what I have. 🤷♂️

Alpinestars is just trash in general, unless you buy the REALLY high end gauntlets that are like $400. I quit buying their gear in general after blowing out 3 pairs of gloves and 2 pairs of shoes and I've never even been to the track with them.

@@roydied15 I haven’t had any issues with their jackets and shoes I have from A-stars, but yeah, I’m done with their gloves. I started breaking in the Dainese Steel Pro gauntlets, and holy hell are they great already. Fingers were a touch tight out of the box, but they’re loosening up good after only two days of working on them. As long as I can keep getting lucky with their fit, I plan to stick with Dainese for the long haul.

If you like the Odin SMX gloves, then you should try the Odin Hybrid Heavy Hitters. There similar to the SMX Gloves but armored like their Heavy Hitters. I have a pair of the Hybrids, and Original Heavy Hitters. Both are good; the Hybrid HH are a bit more comfortable though.
@RestlessMule7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the recommendation. That very well may be the route I go with my next pair of gloves. I love how comfortable the SMX gloves are; I just want more protection than they can provide.

I personally like the Sedici armored ones.. think there called Bruno’s and there about $50 from cycle gear. The only thing I didn’t like was the Velcro you stick the strap to was not long enough so it curled up and flapped in the breeze. Fix that by sewing on an extra piece scavenged from an old pair of cheap work gloves I didn’t mine cutting up, now there perfect for me

Thanks for sharing your experience. It’s kind of like rubbing salt in my wound. 😆 Before I decided on these scorpion gloves I was hoping to buy the Sedici gloves you mentioned. Unfortunately, both Cycle Gear and Revzilla only had them in 3XL, which is way too big for me. I’m glad they’re working out for you; I’d have them now if I could find them in my size.
