Capo is not used just for chords matching. It's used to match scale for the singer too. His voice matches perfectly for this scale

You should know guitar theory for that….but if I sum it up…. When you play a Bass note…which gives you the main flavour to the chord. For example We only play 4 strings in D Major chord…because the Open 4th string is a D note, if you’ll play all the strings…it will ruin the original D major sound. Same with A minor Chord, 5th string open is A note…that’s why we’ll play 5 strings. One more example for you….. When we play open G MAJOR position…..we play all 6 strings because, the 6th string on the 3rd Fret(G major positions) is G bass note. Basically if you add bass in any chord,it’ll enhance the sound….just understand that. You can try hitting bass strings only one time in each strum pattern. I hope it’ll help.
