3:17 After eternally explaining that whales and dolphins are not fish, someone came and called fish "plants".
@Aliandrin
@Aliandrin 2 жыл бұрын
Since cetaceans aren't breathing in water, I assume they get all their water from taking in food, since that's what mice do in the desert, and the ocean is basically a big desert, and a dolphin is basically a big mouse. That, or they're capable of drinking seawater.

Fish store pee in something called a "bladder" but human men store pee in their balls. And women don't have balls, so obviously they don't pee.

There is a phrase in Israel that goes like this: "If you will (do anything bad, depends on the context) I will show you where does the fish pee from!" Which means that if you'll mess up again they will do to you something so extremely unique that you wouldn't want to go through

Do vestigial organs never go away entirely? I feel like the amount of time we need to go back to consider ourselves similar to "fish" is so far back that most of the organs that were relevant to a marine animal would be entirely gone by now.
@FaultAndDakranon
@FaultAndDakranon 5 жыл бұрын
Roy The organs are often repurposed. For instance, gills have been turned into parts of our ears and cheek bones.
@roy4173
@roy4173 5 жыл бұрын
@@FaultAndDakranon Well yeah, but those aren't really vestigial though. I'm asking if the useless organs are ever just removed from an organism outright given enough generations. Like things that are originally repurposed (as they often are), but even the repurposed organ loses practical application, becomes vestigial...then is it ever observed among fossil evidence of the vestigial organ just vanishing from the organism altogether? I somehow doubt that every single piece of us was preserved since the time of the very first single-celled organism. Not that matter isn't conserved, but that every functional organ from then is still present in every living thing now. The thought seems a little unlikely to me. I mean eventually, some organs must be discarded right? Even vestigial things will eventually burden the genome to the point that it's not worth the energy to hoard every single piece of information, especially if some of it cannot be practically used in any way of that organism's daily routine. The fact that we still have vestigial stuff back from our "fishy" days seems to suggest that our DNA is an absolute hoarder of information and will refuse to let any of it go, even if it overburdens its capacity for normal activity.
@FaultAndDakranon
@FaultAndDakranon 5 жыл бұрын
Roy Most organs don’t show up in fossils. Best source of information is usually embryology.
@shadowmax889
@shadowmax889 5 жыл бұрын
We still see most of our organs in the fish it's because the majority of organs get repurposed for example, floating bladders on fish evolved into lungs, front limbs evolved into wings just to put some examples. Very few organs get completely discarted like hind limbs on whales, all the four limbs on snakes or the list of our tails. By the way the second pair of kidneys we develop as embryos becomes the gonads in both sexes

So it has nothing to do with the fact that we spend our first nine months suspended in amniotic fluid and are commonly born with jaundice? Medical science has proven that there is no such thing as a vestigial organ. They ALL have a relevant, modern function.
