I hate flight simulators,...but then, I'm an old "fly by the seat of your pants" kind of pilot,...and my seat can't feel jack in a sim, lol.

I am using MSFS2020 / 2024 Flight simulator (in Virtual Reality with proper heli controls) to learn fly the Bell 47 (by 'FlyInside') throttle / RPM control purely for muscle memory. This way I can become familiar with the procedure, and with the original helicopter controls. A bonus side benefit is that it makes you more aware, and appreciate, the basics of helicopter flight and energy management. The next step will be flying the R22 without the governor in the sim. That way eventually flying with the governor 'on' will make it "easier", I reckon. Learning these procedures in a real aircraft would cost a good amount of money, and take a long time to become more comfortable with.

Simulators can be a great tool for training but nothing beats the real thing! Thank you for commenting!

Thanks for the video. Couldn't find the free radio communication course link though. Do I need to sign up for an account to access it?
