I keep my fragrances in my closet, inside a dresser. I also keep them in their boxes. The temperature is consistent, and no sunlight gets inside them. I think fragrances with citrus on the top, tend to go away with time, but dense fragrances last way longer, f they are properly stored. Fingers crossed.

Some may go bad especially if it has been kept for years… but a lot will be fine if properly stored… I have some for more than 10yrs, some smells different sniffing right from the bottle sprayer, others; top notes are a bit off… but for me I’m fine for as long as the dry down smells the same… I even ordered an old phased out perfume from ebay, i love the scent and is so nostalgic for me that I have to search online, wherever just to get some back… it could be a 20+ yrs. old bottle (90’s perfume)… the dry down is still the same… I only use it on special occasions since I don’t want to live without it soon… 😅 The cons of loving a perfume that has been discontinued 💔 same as a heartbreak 💔 😅

Per a perfume chemist friend: the more alcohol in the bottle, (and it's kept out of sunlight etc) the longer it will last... So EDT will fare better than edp and pure parfum is the most volatile... Also decanting the last 20ml of a 100ml into a new small bottle could keep it from turning too soon... Hope that's helpful!! P.S. he said once the baudruchage of an extrait is open, you should try to use the extrait within 18-24 months

But this “new” D&G perfume I bought, had oxidized in a matter of a year or so without even using it (this was years ago, and never bought a new one). I store all my perfumes in their original packaging, if possible, in a locker in my bedroom, up from the floor, and it’s always cold in my bedroom as I sleep with the window open regardless of season, I live in. Norway. The perfumes I use that season is in my fridge…

Sir, what's wrong with me? Other people talk about how powdery iris fragrances are, but when I get my nose on them, I smell no powder what so ever. Is my system immune to iris? Is this a disorder of some kind? I bought 'A Powdery Affair' because of your review and loved it! It uses several powdery notes, I believe. I can smell the powder in 'Black Woman,' 'African Musk', and others, but when it comes to fragrances that use iris for the main powdery affect, I'm nose blind. Would you please, concider a video of masculine and unisex powdery fragrances that don't use the main note of iris?

My personal experience is that perfumes that contain more citrus are actually the ones most likely to change their scent,BUT THERE IS A GOOD NEWS when the scent begins to change. You can spray some of the perfume and you will find that the remaining amount of perfume still smells healthy. It seems that the oxidized perfume is settling down or that the perfume in the spray tube is the one that has changed the smell, Therefore my advice is that if you find the smell of the perfume starting to change, do not rush, spray the perfume until the unnatural smell goes away, and be careful not to shake the perfume bottle.. Another thing is that if you use perfume at long intervals, this means that the oxidized perfume is slowly settling to the bottom, which means that the perfume will remain for a longer period because its exposure to oxidation takes place slowly and the smell is gradually eliminated. However, if you use most of the perfume in a short time and a small amount remains, this means that The quantity is more susceptible to oxidation and damage because it was exposed to a large amount of air in less period , which accelerates the oxidation process. Finally, as I said, perfumes that contain more citrus are more susceptible to damage, while more intense perfumes are usually more durable (contrary to what some say, that perfumes that contain more alcohol last longer). To clarify this, perfumes like Montale, for example, contain 80% alcohol as well like Chanel perfumes, but Montale perfumes are more intense, so they are supposed to last longer
