Do Hi Tek Bullets Shoot Clean?

60 Hi Tek rounds loaded with 8 grains of HS 6 in the 44 Special through the 629 should provide a good comparative test on leading properties of Hi Tek coatings. Of course, if your gun has small bullets, Hi Tek may not help...There was some fouling residue in the barrel - the nylon brush did not remove all of it - but the brass brush did...

I've been onto them for over a month and they won't supply me. That Joe Ban fella is a pain in the arse. He's got my money, order and delivery info but won't send the product. Anyone who has shot lead can testify to the time when we just can't get the lead out . Shooting my Python sometimes it amazed me how long it took. This is a great video to prove that PC does work and helps in making cleaning a quicker process.

shot about 400 rounds of 45acp/44 mag/.357/38/9mm from 6 different handguns all shooting HT bullets.. not one had a speck of lead.. none smoked when fired as was expected.. all cleaned up with almost no effort. The Python was the only gun that was getting sticky for extraction but it always does.. it is extremely high tolerance and most know. but.. it cleaned up just as easily. All in all

The High-tech coating system does a nicer job as far as the color coating. However, I feel that the use of powder coating is faster and easier in production. Takes less time. My Star unit will flat get with it now that I have hooked up the constant pressure air assist to the lube reservoir. as fast as you can pull the handle. You can out run the pressure and have to let it catch up. Btw.. I'm happy that you discovered that benefits of using Mineral oil. works great... Dave.

Thorsaxe777 - Finally, I'm going to be able to do the finish video on our 44 Special book (and if you want to do something later, it can still be added) - The range was closed totally for a while, and then when it reopened, only the outdoor range was open...I need both ranges open to do the finish video...but then I shot up the ammo I was going to use to do that video and now have to reload more...You are going to be doing a video on your air compressed Star machine I'm sure, I hope...I wish.... FC, can you test bullets coated with Hi Tek with one coating vs two coatings, and while this vid covers 3 maybe include 3 coats as the benchmark. Sure would make life a little easier with just one coat. Keep up the good work, we are watching.

Crabby Old Warrior - Thanks for posting. Not wise to shoot bullets that have inadequate coating on inspection...and that's what I get with the first coating with the HT. The recommendation is for 2 or more coats. When we PC, the one coat gets us the coating we need there. The HT requires less oven time. (Latest tests by Elvis Ammo show that PC works well with shorter oven times also - I have not tried that yet). Both systems work equally well - it's a matter of preference. Best to ya, FC Steve

I clean a bit different.. I use a mop and eds red too.. I mop in the cylinders and the bore. then a couple of passes with a brass brush then a patch wrapped around a brass brush...

leading or no leading in barrel using cast lead bullets ...my experience is to slug your barrel and go 0.002 inch OVER SIZE (that's 2 thou over) with the lead bullets.i tumble lube with LLA and never ever had a problem since with leading..i can drive leads 15-18bh ( brinell hardness) at 2000fps and barrels look like mirrors inside., remember, slug them barrels shooters....bullet fit is key...

Underwood Ammo uses brick red Hi-Tek coating in their hardcast bullets, and it smokes like crazy in all manner of 10mm guns.

Would be great to just run a dry patch down thr bore, then inspect for leading.

PC is way easier and faster then Hi-Tek coating. No wait time in drying like the 15-30 min like Hi-Tek. 1-2 min shake then bake with PC 2 coats then your done.

thanks again for the video. I have the bore guides for 38special 357 and 22 . the problem is that coated rods simply don't fit. scrapes the coating off and ends up mess. I refer mostly to the 22 caliber. So no coated rods with bore guides and another thought is should one use a thinner rod, say a 17 or 20? that may be a good idea for any 22 gauge bore. usung a bore guide or not. any thoughts on this?
