We alternate on the juices between beet and other roots together, and then a green juice that is leafy vegetables but we almost always use celery, including the leaves. We just rotate them. Then we also make a cleansing sort of juice, which is ginger, root, turmeric, orange, carrot, and then fresh ground pepper, which increases the absorption of turmeric about 1200%.

John is correct regarding fruits. Did you know that high fructose fruits like red apples at the supermarket are NOT A HEALTH FOOD. And here's why: fructose cannot be used by any cell in the body, so you know what happens? It goes to the liver to be stored as fat. After enough time of eating too much sugar (which is 50% fructose), high fructose corn syrup (55% fructose), and high fructose fruits (watermelon@6.6g/slice, grapes@7.7g/20, banana@8.3g/medium, mango@8.4g/half, pear@9.8g/medium, pomegranate@9.9/fruit, red apple@13.3g/medium, dates@21.8g/6fruits and ALL dried fruits like raisins), your liver will get too much fat and then have to store is near the pancreas. And then by the viscera around the belly. And finally the muscles and ta da, now you have sky high triglyerides and at risk for massive atheroschlorsis/arterial plaque. Don't believe me? Go watch "The Bittersweet Truth" by Dr. Jamnadas, a cardiologist of 35 years. He said his dieticians advised his patients to eat 4-5 fruits per day, he says "Are you crazy??". Also that fruits in nature are meant for animals including humans to splurge on to prepare for hibernation and winter when they wouldn't be eating every day, and then switching to convert the liver fat to ketones for fuel when food is scarce. The problem? "Winter never comes!" in our modern day environment, we have year round calories. So he advises to steer clear of high fructose fruits like I just listed. Amazingly, the lists that I'm looking at have apples super high up. Remember when they said an apple a day keeps the doctor away? Uhhh nope. And for those juicing apples consistently, I wouldn't be surprised if you have a stubborn gut that won't go away.

Right now, I'm eating the most sumptuous rich and hardy cooked dinner of sautéed fresh beets, portobello mushrooms, red onions, garlic, thyme, organic olive oil and Himalayan salt and added water for extra renderings. The beets are al den·te but the rendering of the mushrooms and beets makes for an unbelievably delicious combo. So energizing!!

Kind of surprised when asked foods that fill you up longer you didn't mention nuts!!! Nuts are key in my opinion to making raw foods work for most people. John's on another level though!! but for most people who want this to work I recommend high nut intake because they fill you up especially at dinnertime when you need to make it through the night without going hungry till morning.

A warning about Metformin. I don’t have diabetes or insulin resistance, but I was prescribed Metformin by my dr. I took it for about 2 years and did okay on it, but after that my liver enzymes started to get elevated. A possible side effects that can happen with some people is hepatitis. Some people don’t believe me, but it’s right there if you do an internet search. Case studies of people getting acute hepatitis from taking Metformin. So I stopped the Metformin and my liver enzymes went back to normal levels.

This is great info. Was about to say the same - new studies are showing that Metformin isn't safe for everyone and should only be used under doctor supervision. I'm hearing good things about Rapamycin though it's still early in the research.

I work in a warehouse and I have to cover long distance at speed and lift (10- 15kg) boxes( overhead half the time). Sometimes I triple them up and carry 40kg. I have been playing on the diet between raw and cooked. I can only tell the difference because I'm pushing myself hard for 8- 12 hours a day. Cooked is dehydrating and I find I can't breathe as well. I get more aches and pains around the body. The problem ones are the high protein and high starch ones. Also they make it harder to hold the bladder for some reason. The cooked I eat now are beets, carrots and greens(these are sodium). No beans potato grains or nuts. I eat mostly fruit for a good amount of calories. Now I'm flying. Cooked is okay for sitting around at Xmas and holiday when you don't need to breathe deep and the joints and organs won't be stressed by acids while sitting around Check out Janette Murray wakelin

I don’t know about John, but I’m having great results with it. I stopped it for awhile because I wasn’t sure it was helping and I noticed a difference! So now I have it on autoship so that I don’t run out. I haven’t done any testing. Just noticed a difference myself. I may test later or try stopping it again some time in the future to see if I still need to take it. I hope eventually my micro biome will be good so I won’t have to take it for ever. But we’ll see.

Eating only green vegetables or green vegetable juice will make you too alkaline. Ask me how I know. We gotta have the vegetables AND the fruits! Fruits will add the acid that you need to balance the bases that you get from the greens.
