Odie spotted @ 7:32! As an instrumentalist, you have a great advantage because you know how to tune your instrument; as a guitarist, you have a facility with certain chords that are common to that instrument. And muscle memory is also a factor, especially if (as in your case) you are also a singer. However, some instruments aren't "in C" - for instance, Bb clarinets sound a tone lower than the pitches they play, so things can get a little confusing. And when it comes to singing, as you touched upon, some songs need transposition to bring them into the compass of an individual's voice, so that too can muddy the waters. That said, also as per your illustration, intervallic relationships are a good way to develop relative pitch. Ultimately, as with all things musical, experience and practice can yield better results, even if perfect pitch isn't your gift!

God golly my kid! Wow! I asked him to watch this but he said “ I don’t have perfect pitch and it’s hard to get that” he is a natural musically, . He went out to help his Dad with building a shelf for the reptiles.

Such a great, well said commentary! Adam Neely made a video on how perfect pitch can be a bad thing, though some responded that he was wrong on some points. I echo the thought, why waste time trying to learn perfect pitch? That's the problem with people attacking Ryan Beato over it. Even if he's wrong, it could still take thousands of hours to earn. Why waste time on that when you can improve what you already have? Nice work Amy!

I'm with you on this one, you can't learn perfect pitch and don't need it either. It could even hinder the creativity of a musician. Just train your musical ear and learn from different styles of music to enrich your own style and give it a more personal flavour. And practise, practise, practise, because practice makes... progress, not perfect. As long as you're not perfect, there's still room to grow and learn... and that's fun!
