Sam when you cross the straps at the back use the hole on the trailer hook instead of the hook. Great to see a good farming show.

i remember tim gibson he use to be a dairy farmer and he use to right a column in one of the dairy farmer magazines each month .......he sells robot milking machines and bits and bobs for the dairy farmers now........well done for getting some straw in like you say if you can fetch it back yourself you save a few quid. not much corn grown around my part of the world most of ours comes from salisbury/somerset way

Fair dues to you, you are a good operator and you deserve to be proud of yourself! Good looking crop of grass . Tip from an old timer ( been there done that) leave the goats in the shed it’s easier in the long run the bloody things go feral in a matter of weeks if left out and fences are just a minor inconvenience to them. Bloody handy for pets though and you will have a lamb worth something without it having cost you its value to get it there. Regards from Ireland.

I’m glad you explained how the last bales were strapped. I think the opposite about wheat and barley. I find barley softer and mor absorbent, and the stock eat the leafy bits. Your children are a laugh a minute. Really impressed with Jimbob’s tenacity. What about hiring a dress? The shop will help you find something that looks really good on you.

Sam, The King upgraded Golden Guernsey Goats to Royal Golden Guernseys this year. I see you went for the common ones. A friend of my mum saved the breed in World War 2 by hiding them in her house to prevent the Germans eating them all.

You will not get better than goat`s milk for any young stock. Puppies thrive on it, we had 2 or 3 of the White Sonnens whose milk at lambing was put into lamb multi feeders for those needing fed. The White goats milk we found was not as strong tasting as the long lugged Nubians, it is also very good for anyone with skin complaints. from the 3 goats we often had up to 9 kids and a lot of time was had laughing at their antics , it not taking them long to find that if they went along the wall onto the lean- to then onto the byre roof they had a fine obstacle course. You will have to give notice to any visitors if the goats are out as nothing was more fun for the kids than to run up bonnets and onto roofs to play King Of The Castle. The joys.
