As a travel agent, I can say that the information given here is spot on. Some charge fees, some don’t (we don’t). I suggest getting together with an agent 18 months or more before the big day because you want to lock in the hotel rates before they go up and ensure availability. Depending on the size of your group, your agent should be able to get you perks like free rooms, free room upgrades, and even free wedding packages.

I hired one right away. I researched where I wanted to go a little and then I hired one that I knew specialized in destination weddings
