CartoonCafe! Psst my theory? They legally couldn’t have John and Sherlock be a couple. A few years back Robert Downey jr made a joke about johnlock while promoting the Sherlock Holmes movies and the spokesperson for Doyles estate threatened to pull their rights to the franchise if Johnlock became reality. With that in mind, I think Moffat literally couldn’t have them be “confirmed” without having BBCs rights to the Sherlock Holmes name yanked by Doyle’s descendants. They did all they could with Mary’s final message and them living together and raising Rosie.
