@@SquishyTalk i think i have to disagree with you about housing.. sure you can bought property if you want to live in other prefecture.. but in tokyo most people that buy property are either businessman or celebrity.. salaryman doesnt has a chance.
I’m really struggling with this exact problem. I lived in Japan for four years (3 of which were pandemic). I came back for a year to do my Masters - but now I’m struggling with anxiety and guilt about leaving my parents, they’re in their early fifties so they aren’t old, but I still can’t stop thinking about how I wont be able to get there quickly if anything goes wrong. And I love spending time with them. But in every other respect I am happier in Japan, and I like myself more in Japan too. I don’t know what to do. I can’t help but feel like im abandoning them… and now I’m 31. Fluent in Japanese with Japanese BA and MA. Common sense says I should go back but my god I love my parents. Any advice is appreciated.

I see Japan suits you personally in several aspects that makes you happy. My aunt came from Sweden and has lived in Japan as a Swedish national for more than 50 yrs. She might have always missed one of the two countries as you state, but I feel it is enviable to have choices. I wish I had any base in Oxford because it's lots of green & calm, people are friendly.

I am Japanese, but I had a chance to visit Scotland because my relatives were working there. Although it was only for a month or so, I felt a sense of ease that I had never felt in Japan. It may be that each person, regardless of nationality, has an affinity with his or her environment.

While I was in the United States, I missed Japan, thinking that my friends in Japan were having all the fun stuff like TV show or cool stuff like Pokemon or Dragonball or what have you. I was able to go back to Japan for summer vacation, and I realized that it was fun to have some beer (I was over 20 years old at that time) and hang around with friends, but it wasn't as good as I was expecting. So you are right, once I went back to Japan and seeing my family and friends, I was able to go back to US and enjoy the life there. Los Angels is very nice weather, almost sunny all the time, you can drive couple of hours to do some skiing during winter too. Majority of people are friendly, and a lot of excitement living there. But there are dangerous area that you want to avoid and stay away from trouble. All and all, I wanted to live in LA, but I could not find a nice job there. So I ended up coming back to Japan, got a good job, got married and settled down. Now I am happy living in Japan. I hope you will find your happiness here in Japan too.

While I spent challenging year in Durham North East of England, I didn't miss Japan so much. Though I also love beautiful country side of the Border, Scotland, and the North East and fresh seafood there, good company there, British, Spanish, Basque, American, Chinese, French and a (Japanese) girl friends, was a key factor to enjoy living there. I guess you can love living in Japan partly because you can also enjoy good company esp. with your husband, probably because you're nice person. I wish you a long life happiness.

No matter which country you want to live in, it is important to have a dream, that you want to achieve. For me, I did have plans on pursuing my dreams in Japan, but along with The United States of America at the same time, as I am influenced with cultures from both countries.

In my own opinion, I think the average quality of life in the UK is better. Even though Japan is safer, cheaper in some ways, and doesn't have a government which actively trying to dismantle the country's culture, I still think British people are able to live a less stressful life. If you can find a way to navigate around the sources of stress in Japan, it's a great place to live.

Thank you for saying that you like Japan, and I am happy as a Japanese. She is wondering whether to live in the UK or Japan, but whichever she chooses, I think she will miss the other in the future. When I couldn't decide which one to use, I read in a book a long time ago that it would be better to choose "the one who should do it".

I know this has nothing to do with the topic, and you might have told us already in another video, but do you mind if I ask whereabouts in the UK you were born and raised? I used to live in the UK when I was a kid, and there's this accent of yours which I just miss and love. I think it's a lot to do with how the "t"s are pronounced. Long story short, you talking is like music to my ears. Looking forward to your upcoming videos. Cheers!
I've enjoyed watching you. But one thing I noticed different from other KZbinrs is that you use very simple words and phrases in your streaming. Furthermore, you are very kind enough to upload the English subtitles with each video, which is very helpful for English learners. Are you consciously trying to use such simplicity?

Is this the clip to inform Japan is a better country than England? ;) But I totally agree with your opinion. England is a good country def. However, In japan everything we can get easier, tons of things to do, many choices, safer....as my opinion. Just working in Japan is like a slave. I felt like I made a sacrifice of my life for work.
To live in other culture causes anxiety. You would want to make sure yourself with tangible your roots. Living in Japan surrounded by many difference would make you nervous. I think you want to see your view of life from your basis in UK.

I've studied abroad for nine months in London. I've travelled UK several times and had so many enjoyable experiences. I'd like to live in UK again, definitely.

Thank you for your great work as always! I expect that the yen will become cheaper and cheaper without sacrificing the current level of security and cleanliness, so I would suggest that it would be a good idea to earn pounds online, live in Japan, and spend them here at home. Not to be outdone by Ms. Skye, I too will make dollars online while in Japan.

Maybe you realise, maybe you don't--- how fortunate you are to have two first- rate countries on either side of the Eurasia landmass you can call home. Congratulations!
I like London because musical is one of my hobbies but I don't want to live there and the reason is the level of cuisine. Though what can be eaten at reasonable price in London is only Chinese food and Indian food, even the Chinese food of London is worse than those of other countries. Anyway, the reason why British food isn't good is eternal debating issue. My guess is that Britain doesn't get enough sunshine and so there cannot grow much stuff fully and English people had to store food with much salt and get numb sense of taste and has been succeeding the level of cuisine from mother to daughter. Btw, are you prepared for earth quake?
