I think a lot of people misunderstand this phrase. Saying something has "never failed me yet" is a pretty common figure of speech, meaning something is extremely reliable. A lot of people seem to get hung up on that lyric, thinking it's saying God might eventually fail them. It's really not, or I'm sure most of us wouldn't be ok with singing the song at all =P

🙏Jesus was with me 1-8-2022 and the 13-1/2 days when I was alone in hospital and through a rare never seen before aortic aneurysm surgery 1-20-2022. I talk to and called out to Jesus from the first day into the operating room. Jesus has given me calm and peace that is beautiful beyond words. It was found I have an egg sized mass in my chest by my heart that needs removed in 3-6 months. Jesus will either remove the mass, or will give wisdom and direction to my thoracic surgeon.🙏 J E S U S ~ I’ve seen you move mountains! Your promise still stands, great is Your faithfulness! When I lost my last hope after I lost my grandparents who were like they were waiting to just get to marriage , God You did again by showing me your faithfulness. Lately I've been upset about not being able to feel closure when praying and praising our Father I was upset because i wanted to be able to be feel His presence. Well .. Indeed Lord I am still in your hands, considering that the Lord saved me from what could have been a terrible accident involving gas & water....4days ago, I collapsed in my house from a severe migraine, i was alone trying to make a cup of tea for myself, so weak when I lost consciousness and fell on the floor, the gas tipped over....I still can't explain how gas went off & was diverted away from me. Only one explanation God is my savior, it could have been worse or death! I'm steadily recuperating from wounds. The people I thought would be there for me were not around. People around me acted crazy. It's hard when you feel alone and overwhelmed. Sometimes it's hard to know when to wait on God and when God is waiting on you. Those days were the days God made me go thru it alone to teach me delayed gratification. I believe thru daily prayer, patience, strategy and hard work ... I was able to fight the good fight.
