It's interesting how the farmer had to be certified as producing the highest quality rice to be able to supply school lunches. Meanwhile here in the UK school lunches mainly consist of the cheapest ultra-processed crap that they can get away with.

As soon as that bamboo guy said he went to a Japanese garden in the US, I was like, "Missouri Botanical Garden?? ...no, don't be silly, it's never Missouri.... omg it is Missouri!!" They have a beautiful Japanese garden, and do a festival every Labor Day weekend, and it's always very hot, humid, and crowded... an authentic Japanese experience, haha. Great video! I finally got to visit Japan again last month, and there were lots of tourists, but we still had a great time.

Humid is INDEED authentic!!! Haha yeah, now I have a reverse bucket list item to see these gardens in the states!!!

First!!! 😊 But seriously, thank you for taking us down the road less traveled. I enjoyed my time in Kyoto, the night clubs, restaurants and back streets. Having a friend in country made the city more personal. Taking a slow train up the coast was the best decision I made

15:48 the name on the side of the lathe caught my eye. My daughter will be traveling to Nagaoka with our local Sister Cities exchange program next year. I had to double check the description to see where you were, so I could tell me daughter to ask if her group might be able to visit, but Kameoka is 6 hours south of where this was made(?).

Aaaaa welcome back!! Watching this over lunch and taking notes on things to do in Kameoka. I'm planning to visit Kansai in the fall, and the Sagano Romantic Train is on my itinerary, so how can I possibly pass up Kameoka after seeing this? Thanks for taking us along. Also YAAAY I got so excited when you mentioned Richmond 💖 I hope the bamboo craftsman can visit Maymont some day. We just had a big bamboo die-off, but it still grows everywhere, so we could use the help of an expert to figure out creative ways to use it up 😂

Now this is the kind of Japan I want to visit! I have not had the chance to travel yet in my life but Japan has always been on my #1 travel bucket list. I'm from an island so i have a feeling i'm gonna get dizzy and clusterphobic from the very populated areas like Tokyo and Kyoto. Kameoka looks like my cup of tea. Thank you so much for the tour! It all looks so much fun to do. I recently read a magazine on trains in Japan and seeing that train made me so excited. I hope to ride it and do everything on that tour someday! ❤

Welcome back stranger, long time no see. I visited Kyoto back in 2004/05 when I was a Exchange student. When I return to visit Japan I want to visit Tokyo because I never been and visit the Tohoku region of Japan because it's the least visited by foreigners.
@Kamila-ey5vi11 ай бұрын
to be honest, the only people I've heard complaining about "overtourism" were other non-japanese people because "their spots are getting polluted with foreigners". Japan is a big and beautiful country, as long as you're not a nuisance to public order, i'm pretty sure japanese people will welcome you with open arms
@kemushichan11 ай бұрын
I'm just glad more people are exploring new places🥰❤️❤️❤️
@andrettax605211 ай бұрын
Sure, but there is nothing wrong about wanting to avoid crowded places, there are even health conditions associated with that, some people just have natural genetic tendencies to that or even cultural ones. Economy in Kyoto runs around Tourism and they are used to visitors, no wonder they were finding it sad and odd the empty streets during Covid times. But if suddenly that many people showed in an Inaka place, they would hate it. So please, no need to do moral judgement about that, the vid is chill af.
@BC337149 ай бұрын
Is it that foreigners are the only ones complaining? Or are they the only ones complaining in English? There are plenty of Japanese sources discussing the overtourism situation. If you search phrases such as “観光公害” or “オーバーツーリズム” there's plenty about it here on KZbin.
