My sister lawyer looked at her crazy when she asked for paperwork he strongly said he would email her 😮 Her own lawyer took advantage of her and got over half her money. Once the settlement was agreed on he got mean and rude to her so much so she called me and said she was scared to ask him anything even about her own money.

My lawyer started acting mean with me also after my case was filed which was different from the initial consultation. After signing up with him, my case went bad. It was the worse decision I made, and it's been 15 years.

Attorneys don't like to waste their time on a losing case. We always "lie" to opposing counsel as to the amounts of settlement authority and possible settlement amounts, for bargaining.
@SR-yc5ee8 ай бұрын
So you're saying the lawyer cannot tell their client how much the case actually settled for in terms of disclosing how much the lawyer's cut will be? Instead the lawyer will tell the client how much the little amount they will receive. So the lawyer basically is hiding how much they're getting paid? This sounds like some Alex Murdaugh mess while the clients remain broke and continue to suffer mentally from the trauma from an accident and be traumatized from the financial abuse they suffer from a shady lawyer, and I speak from personal experience.

I think my divorce lawyer has joined forces with the opposing party. He has been working with them and has been misguiding me and pressuring me to sign over important documents like out of court settlement/divorce and now he wants me to sign over the title of my house before getting my settlement money. The decree says that I will hold the title until money arrives. I can’t trust that because my husband has tried his absolute best to cheat me out of my own money and endure I don’t get a single penny. What should I do

i am wondering what are my options when I feel that my attorney was not disclosing relevant information during negotiating with insurance company until after I accepted an offer under his advisement however seemed to have left out important information how what a settlement offer intailed as far as medical bills being my responsibility to pay out of my settlement. I have already signed a release however, contacted attorney the next day to put a hold on sending the signed release after being informed of an amount that i need to pay for my medical bills and would not have accepted settlement offer if I was informed of how the process worked. I have not received a check as of yet, and was wondering if there is any positive options that I can pursue to waive this offer.

At the beginning of a case, I make the process clear for my clients. At the 6 minute mark I talk about my process for printing out an accounting (distribution summary) for clients during settlement. It is at this point that I further discuss medical costs. Often times, attorneys will negotiate medical liens and attempt to have them reduced or eliminated. A complicating factor can be Medicare/PIP. I didn't forget to include this, medical liens/costs/reductions, that process, could be its own video. I can only speak to so much, and this question was about whether lawyers lie about settlements.

@@clootenlawyer So when you say Medicare or Medicaid, our daughter was severely injured at birth and is now 8 years old. We are In the middle of a major pediatric malpractice lawsuit. If we win do we have to pay back all the medical coverage she has received from Medicaid for the last 8 years? Surgery’s, medications, months and months in the hospital, 24hr nursing careI. 10s of millions of dollars I’m sure by now. Do we have to reimburse all that out of the settlement? Thanks.

Can a attorney take a larger amount of the settlement after all attorney fees taken and plaintiffs taking less
@clootenlawyer Жыл бұрын
Typically, we’re talking percentages. So, the attorney will take 30% and the client will take 70%. Or something like that. I suppose it’s possible for the client to receive less if there’s a lot of costs. But, that would be unusual.

Yes, some attorneys do lie about the actual settlement numbers, so, as the channel JZ helps suggests, & this attorney gets around to mentioning (5:46), clients need to be proactive & ask for an accounting & receipt of each transaction the lawyer & law firm makes that reduces the settlement amount, &/or at least ask for an itemized statement of such costs at the end.

Hi, @@mz.a1704. Are you directing your question(s) to me, or to the channel responsible for uploading this video?
@fiery.mercaba4 ай бұрын
No worries, @@mz.a1704. No need to apologize. I just thought clarification was important, & especially that I can know how to answer. Unfortunately I don't have time to really answer you in great detail at this time, because I have some time-sensitive issues to address on my end, but this I will note for right now: I am not an attorney, so let's establish that first; however, I do my best to gain as much knowledge as I can, & out of some of that learning came my comment. I would say that the advice I retold is a good rule to follow for any injury claim case, but, of course, the attorney or law firm one is consulting with, or is thinking to consult with, would need to agree to such an arrangement. But, of course, this is the type of thing best discuss with an attorney or law firm from the outset of contact & before retaining such. As far as in addition to, or beyond what I've said here, I would suggest you reach out to the channel that uploaded this video, & specifically address your comment to the same, & reference what was said by said uploader, which remarks I did provide a timestamp for. I do hope & pray to the Lord Jesus that things work out for you with regard to your case & whatsoever else you need His intervention about. 🙏🏼 You can let me know how things turn out, if you would like. All the best to you. 👍🏼

Be very careful with those employment cases. Because the lawyers actually get together to screw you out of money. Your lawyer will actually accept less than you would be offered straight up from the defending company so you don't get what you asked for and the lawyer gets more than he would have if he actually settled your case cleanly. It's called back dooring. Happens all the time. Best bet with this situation is always threaten to go to trial.
