Aren't logos just the small image in the top left of a website, the tiny social media avatar that we barely notice? If a company has great products, successful marketing channels, and excellent customer service, do we really think of a poor quality logo is going to prevent them from making sales? Working as a web designer for 15 years your logo DOES matter and it's one of biggest first impression's people have. Whether it's on a website, business card, poster, flyer or whatever else. People will judge the professionalism of your company based on that alone. Even if you have a great website a poor logo can bring the quality down a lot. That's not saying a company can't get by with an average logo but strong branding and advertising starts with the logo first.

I’m a brand consultant and logos do matter. They’re a visual point of difference and if designed well becomes the cornerstone of building the brand. A brand is a combination of many parts of a business that when correctly connected create a perception of trust. Brands are built from both the business and the overall customer experience.
