I wanted to make a little “me space” down in my unfinished basement. I wasn’t looking for something crazy expensive but I did want it to be comfortable kzbin.infoUgkxitRzxya-XugamYgLwa_2G1gxPg4MCJHa as I planned on using it to escape reality and have an inviting place to go when I need “me time”. It came very quickly and it took me maybe 30 minutes to put it all together by myself. I will say, the boxes it comes in are awkward shaped and LARGE. So I did have to have help getting it inside. But it is SO comfy. It’s a little on the firm side but I prefer that. The back is not that attractive but I cover it with a blanket. All in all, I would 10/10 recommend it to anyone.

Great video!❤️ My current couch is from Ashley’s and it is one of the best budget friendly couches I’ve ever purchased. My rule of thumb is I will never sacrifice comfort for what’s considered name brand. There are a ton of dupes that are just as affordable and comfortable for a fraction of what you pay at more high end stores.

But the construction is better at the high end stores. That shorts cpu h may last you 2 years before you start to see wear & tear. The luxury couches will last you far longer.

Thanks this was really helpful. I've been eyeing the Dresden Modular Sectional for a few weeks now. I wanted to love it, but with only being able to view online it's challenging to get a real feel for it. I love the way they combined style and comfort, however with a household of 6ft plus people, I think it may be too low and not deep enough. Canada is just a bit far to travel from California to see a couch in person. The search continues!

I’m so mixed up which to buy. Can anyone help. I need a sofa that will last 15 years. The Ashley, I pressed on the top part and felt the wood!! Walked out. I’ll spend more but I have to know I will have it for 15 years! Also no one has darker colours I would need brown or in the darker taupes light brown… as I know my house will not do well with very light colours. Oh btw everyone in Canada all the company’s (except Ashley they are saying 3 months) they are all saying 6 month minimum to get it to your home and that “minimum” not promised!

Check out the Axis from Crate and Barrel. The associates have told me they have customers who have had that sofa 10 years + and you can get it in any fabric. If you want a sofa right away I would check out the West elm, Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel outlets

@@JessicaJ_ woa. Thank you so very much. We bought a sofa set at crate and barrel south center mall. She said it’s new, I’m not sure but instead of waiting for all the other sofas, this was was coming in Oct/Nov as opposed to April, May 2022. I doubt you will know which one but “much” less soft. Has springs and I’m guessing something between springs and the top. It does come in very expensive fabric. I lost my son it’s about a year and I truly can’t think properly. I’m so not ok. My body, mind and soul are broken. It was faster so I said I’ll take it with the quite large foot thing.. which opens up and has a table inside of it. But she ( sales person) said I can cancel it at anytime. She called me at home the week prior to say there are two sets left then I have to wait until next year for a sofa. Went in on Sunday abt 2 or 3 weeks ago. Those 2 opportunities were still available. People are hunting and hungry for sofas. Every place we went it was a min of 6 months and they couldn’t promise a date. Things are getting really bad out there. My friend sold her fridge, dishwasher and stove with her home. She went to get new ones a week before moving. Guess what she said she couldn’t find a fridge, stove nor dishwasher. I’m not sure if she’s looking at certain brands but she was super desperate of course and has to wait between 3-6 months. I just bought a new iPad today as I hear chips for cars, computers are really running low and there will soon be no chips. Cargo can’t move for several reasons. And on top of that, my close friend who used to pay 1000.00 for a barrel of fabric from India to come here now paid 10,000.00 dollars. So prices for everything is going to soar as I went on the internet to check what was going on. It’s people that got Covid at factories and Covid at the ports and a slew of other things. Fruit and other food coming to North America by ship. The ships cannot go to the port to drop off. They have to wait there turn close to the port but it can take min a week usually longer. So everything spoiled on that cargo. It’s a scary issue. Really scary. Lebanon this past week - I think there electricity system failed and they have or had no power for days… My husband tells me I’m panicking for nothing as those things don’t happen in Calgary. I couldn’t even get a lamp yet from Crate and Barrel from over a month ago. Nor the large wall mirror nor the consol. An email apologizing telling me they will contact me when it’s in. Sales person said will take about 2 weeks they have it at the warehouse…. I thank you for being so kind to write back to me. I will certainly check out your leads!! Not sure if I should get the very cheaply made Ashley for the tv room we never use unless we are fighting and I move into that wing of the house far from everything. Then I’ll hang there but it’s not my favorite spot. That was my sons area - and it’s hard to be in there. Anyway this is long but I hope I shared some info that helped you. I’m a quasi psychic and have done tarot cards most of my life’s. I’m just sensing that something is very wrong in your life. Your very upset or uncomfortable or bot doing well. I don’t work anymore. But I will say I’m not looking for a client. I did that in Montréal as I was on Global TV for a few years and the pay couodnt even cover a rent for a tiny place so they advertised my business. It was so hard after building it up had to get an office and secretary/receptionist to answer calls and let people in and sit with them if I was a bit late. Really she was there as I couldn’t be alone. A lot if Wakos out there and too dangerous to do it at home I tried for first two weeks. Too much happed for me to continue at home. Anyone out there who is considering the Living Spaces Utopia sofa, don't. We have had it for just over a year and it's a hunk of cheap garbage. Ikea constructs a better sofa. You feel the frame after a while and the fabric on the sides and cushion all seem to droop after a while. Not to mention that Living Spaces is so backlogged right now, you'll be waiting more than a month in a major center to get your sofa into your house. Should have gone with the West Elm.

Tried most of it. Cloud and deep sofas are horrible for your back for long term seating. They are OK if you want to sleep on them, but do you? Many returns at RH and C&B on their Cloud and deep offerings. Unless you are really big, deep and cloud sofas will destroy your lower back. You will have to put lumbar support to make it comfortable. So why not get one with 21"-24" anyways, keeping your back in upright and legs in a nice rested 90 degrees position aka proper ergonomic position!? Ever wonder why car seats are designed the way they are? These deep sofas are a fad, which will disappear soon. Not worth it.

Nobody ever talks about a hardwood frame, dowells, screws, real springs, or the things which make a sofa last a really long time. I have found that many of the big name furniture stores have big name and prices, but often lack in quality. We put a lot of emphasis on looks and little on everything else

Seriously! I bought the leather West Elm Hamilton and it fell apart on me. I'm tall and weigh 180 pounds, and the cushions developed this huge sink hole where I sat. What happened to amazing furniture that was long lasting? Gone with the 90s I guess.

Take note that those "stain resistant" coatings contain PFAS which are also known as "forever chemicals", meaning that they do not break down and are emitted from the fabrics over time and accumulate in your body and in the home. They have been shown to have numerous negative health effects and are also terrible for the environment.

Very true. Sadly I don’t think we can escape toxic materials entirely, however not all performance fabrics are created equally. For example, Crypton claims their products contain “no heavy metals, toxic chemicals, or carcinogens.”

Thank you so much for doing this video.I am building a cottage for myself-my first ever, "just for me" house.The Ever sofa was right behind you in Crate and Barrel and I was holding my breath that you would sit in it because that is the one I have been drooling over.I got a fabric sample of it, and BEET JUICE came out of the white performance fabric! And, it is machine washable, although it is very slouchy and messy-looking, so not for everyone..I am 5"2, so thanks for mentioning your height.

I need to know how high it sits, how firm it is (I don't like sinking into a sofa), the sturdiness, etc. I need to sit on it, recline, get a feel of the arm rests, the works... overall quality.

Thank you for the information! We are currently looking for a new sofa. We had a lazy boy for about 15 years. Great quality. Not a reclining sofa. And the cushions held up until probably about five years ago. For me not only the quality of how it’s made but the cushions are to me one of the biggest factors and what type of couch I will purchase. I want a 2.0 to 2.5 density quality memory foam cushion- We may go with another La-Z-Boy but they are quite expensive if I could find something in a cheaper price range with a high quality cushion definitely would go that route

The cozy cloud like sofas are in so you’re going to see it a lot. The axis from Crate & Barrel is a more tailored sofa. All the stores I mentioned also have tailored sofas. I hope that helps

This is such a good video! It took me weeks to decide on which sofa to get. I wish this was out when I bought my white sofa. I ended up getting a Belgian Track sofa from RH outlet. I love it so much. Easy to clean and comfortable. I personally don’t like the Cloud. It’s too slouchy and doesn’t age well.

I am going to buy the harmony, but I have two medium size dogs, I am thinking of the CINDER leather, its darker but very worried about 'pills' or wearing on a lighter performance fabric. Does anyone have the Cinder in a space that you can share a pic?

The Cloud couch is so over hyped! It is so uncomfortable. You sink right into it and it does not hold its shape. As a matter of fact, it has no structure and it saggy.. Really regret this purchase. Buyer, please do your due diligence if you have your eye on the Cloud. In my opinion, i'd rather sit on the floor than on this couch.

I have a crate and barrel sofa. It looks great, but the suspension system they use is absolute garbage and breaks very easily. It is frustrating, because if they just spent even a tiny bit more money on sturdier components in the suspension it would be perfect.

Hi Jessica, I just stumbled upon your channel!! I am going to subscribe as soon as I finish my comment. Surprisingly, I was just in West Elm and fell in love with the Harmony Modular! This store had the oyster color on display!! OMG!! My only concern was whether over time the sofa would start to sit too low to the floor. I don’t like sofas that sit like that! Bad for my back. Really glad to find your channel because when in the store the associate didn’t mention that the sofa could be configured to sit a little higher off the floor! I live in a fairly decent size apartment...the living room dining area are combined so I was happy about being able to use this sofa whether in a larger or smaller space. I’m going to go see it again and make a decision. Appreciate your review and your honesty. Have an awesome weekend.

I looked at the washed canvas and yarn dyed linen weave in stone white. The grayish one is coastal linen. I took forever making a decision too 🤣

Problem for me is being 5'7.5".. and having run about 30 miles a week when young, and having subsequent hip and knee surgeries... I am fine but I can't sit in a low seat. So I have wasted hours looking at couches which are too low. My new wicker patio chair seats are 22" off the ground without the cushions. I like to easily sit and get up and down from a sofa without a bungee cord. This means the seat height from the floor, comfortably would be a minimum of 20" with semi firm cushions, and if they are squishy, not providing proper support they need to be 22" off the ground! Happily European furniture gives this measurement, but most US furniture manufacturers don't! Interestingly with an aging population, this is critical due to the frequency of hip and knee surgeries (I've had both). Consider how difficult it would be for anyone taller than I am! It may explain the popularity of counter height tables and chairs. If I go to a Dr.'s office, hair salon, whatever, if the seat is too low I don't sit down; or I go to my car and ask them to call me! I don't limp, and appear to walk easily and fluidly, and I am not limping, using canes, nor do I present as disabled! However, when sitting in a low seat I am in so much pain and misery! Time companies woke up to the health needs of an aging population when it comes to designing and selling furniture.

Not sure if American Signature is all over (it’s also called Value City Furniture in the North East) but they have 3 cloud sofa dupes one is called the Cordelle sectional ($3300) the Cozy 5 pc sectional ( $3200) the Cozy 3 pc sofa ($1800) and the Plush 5 pc ($3700) 6 pc( $3600) the 4pc($3000) I would advise anyone to look on line at them then go to the actual store and sit on them because I went to the store first and only liked one but didn’t think to get the name of it, I looked it up online and they all look the same now I have to go back and sit on them again and find out which one I liked

Our $2200 West Elm sofa is creaking and making all kinds of noise after a few months. Apparently Havertys offer a hardwood or possibly metal frame but the fabrics are not as good or protective as Pottery Barn, RH etc I’m in NC but so many brands have 20-30 week lead times….still! Any suggestions?

Reach out to West Elm. I believe you have a year warranty through them. Living Spaces offers performance fabric options. I’m not sure how good they are but you can order swatches and their wait times are not to bad.

I’m so glad you found it helpful. My favorite is the West Elm Harmony sofa/sectional. It’s really comfy, modern and stylish. The cost for a performance fabric is also reasonable. My second favorite is the Lotus, I just wished the back cushions were a little higher...oh and the price for a performance fabric is a bit much

Thank you! I was actually considering the West Elm Harmony, so I found this review very helpful. The only problem is deciding between just the sofa with ottoman or sectional with chaise, as well as the fabric. I love the luxe boucle, but it's not a performance option. I will go back to the store and check out the sunbrella performance slub tweed in white.
