I just bought two backup remotes for it from Walmart you can use regular TV remotes for this thing. The cleaning buttons are missing but that is it any other setting can be controlled with a LG universal remote it's actually better than buttons can you don't have to reach over to the monitor.

Nice review man and I am lg fan I have 65in g3 oled and 65in b6. I recently purchased the msi 321urx but returned it because of annoying oled care and freesync doesn’t work. I know matte coating takes away from clarity but I trust lg the most I am ordering the 27gs

HDR definitely adds more colors. Example: When a in SDR the wall appears solid red. In HDR that same wall would look more orange, because more true colors are now displaying on screen. HDR is so hard to get right in gaming.

thx 4 review, unique one! i like the Cube Poster on the wall, i am fan of cube 1 2 & 3 movies. dell p1130 is a beast, i played 6months apex legends on it but is so hard to play modern br games because of the lack of far distance visibility so i had to swap to a 27" untill this oled becomes available in my country. i hate m blurr, i hate slow monitors, i hate ips but i have to wait for the oled to arrive to europe. nothing compares to a crt, if i had the monney i would buy a fw900 right now but is overpriced as fk.

I have the same monitor but imma be honest idk wtf going on, is hdmi 2.1 active just by using the cable or do i have to do something in cru, all i did was add the settings to the cta-861 block that u have on which is the ULLM and what not, does that apply for all the resolutions the monitor has available? Or do i have to create a resolution because when i try it wont let me go to 240hz but i can use it in the desktop and games

​@@ZorzGaming well I saw this i.redd.it/ixwiwgosyepa1.jpg and the difference seems small, I had the aw2521H 360hz and was disappointed so I sold it and I'm currently on a cheaper vg259QM who does the minimum required while waiting to buy a new one, of course I want to win everything but if it's just for a little less blur I prefer beauty and sharpness especially since in Valorant the heads are sometimes difficult distinguishable, what I don't want is latency on the mouse or a lack of image during fast movement. (1 year before I made the choice to buy a 48C1 for beautiful games solo and a very ugly but fast screen for competitive games alongside, btw thanks to answer to everyone you're awesome !)

I can tell you this - THE LG is the least competitive monitor by far of the 4 in the running for best gaming monitor I have. That with the Coating makes it ... a really really tough buy for me. It's a 10bit panel mate, 12 bit wont make a difference. You can select it in the NVCP, but wont be seeing a difference. Also barely any 12bit content out there at the moment!

HDR doesn't really do anything with colours, it's just about the contrast. The colours appear "better" because of the much higher contrast ratio in HDR. Fullscreen brightness is probably very similar in HDR to SDR, but highlights and small details is where HDR shines. Another difference is that most SDR content isn't in 10-bit colour. HDR is mostly 10-bit or sometimes rarely 12-bit. This kinda makes me confused on how you can see mentioned huge differences between 8-bit, 10-bit and 12-bit when it's content dependent. I think that you seeing better colours will be caused be something else than the bit depth itself. There might be something else going on with DP vs. HDMI. Weird..

Honestly I'm not 100 percent sure why but its unquestionably noticeable. I read 12 bit content can be ... synthesized or something even on a ten bit panel.

But any other colour properties should not be affected by the colour depth. So I don't know what exactly is "better" or worse about the colours when you switch between these modes from your POV.

Also the SDR on this monitor is roughly 200 nits of brightness, in HDR it can briefly reach 1000 nits (which is required for true HDR). I would say that 5 times the brightness it not even close to SDR brightness. I would also say that as a CX owner you notice the difference between 8 bit and 10 bit IMMEDIATELY. The colors are significantly more vibrant and the entire image jumps off the screen at you. Im not trying to start anything here but i wonder if you have ever seen or used an OLED or a true HDR screen

@@absolutelysobeast color depth does not increase the vibrancy of colors, they can appear more vibrant, because as you wrote 10 is more than 8, but you also need your image to be in 10-bit, not only that the display is capable of showing it. And like I wrote, your TV or Monitor, especially OLED cannot even come close to 1000 nits at fullscreen. It can reach those nits, yes, but that is in 10% window or less. HDR is very nice, but it will not help you if your display is too dimm overall, you need sustainable fullscreen brightness for that.

For HDR the brightness should be set at 100 on the monitor otherwise it's not setup properly. You don't adjust it lower like you would in SDR content.

It should be noted that Overwatch is one of the WORST games to play using oled monitors... Because in-game, on overwatch, blizzard, in their infinite wisdom, made the AIR in-game permanently misty, there's a gentle mist, everywhere, all the time... so there's always a white-ish mist, completely RUINING the blacks of an image, making everything look crappy and washed out. xD Funny part is, you don't notice this mist, unless you're using an OLED, lmao... that mist is entirely imperceptible on LCD.

​@@Slader774k 240-360hz would be nice if we could get stable 240-360fps in every single game at 4k max settings, but the thing is that we can't. We can get 120fps for sure, but for some people such as myself that isn't enough. In my opinion for gaming 4k isn't worth it at all, *yet*. I would rather have 1440p 240-360hz oled to get that stable 240-360 fps ingame ( with newest gpu/cpus ) than 4k 120hz, or even 4k 240hz since we can't really get *stable* 240fps at 4k yet ( except in some games, especially older games ) So as for now the perfect monitor would be a 240hz-360hz Glossy 27 inch 1440p OLED or QD-Oled, with good BFI feature, for example the dough spectrum black OLED monitor looks like the perfect OLED monitor you can buy, if it really is what they claim it to be. Maybe in 5 years I can finally say that 4k will be the " new normal " but right now I can't. Also I do understand that some people prefer 4k 120hz instead of 1440p 240-360hz. It's just that as a " competitive " player such as myself, I can easily see a huge difference between 120hz and 240hz, and the difference between 27 inch 1440p compared to 4k 27-32 inch isn't that big. In terms of ppi yes it is insanely big, but for your eyes it isn't as big of a jump than going from 1080p to 1440p for example, and on top of that you will get way less fps on 4k so it's just not worth it yet. Maybe next gen of gpus can do it, maybe not. I feel like in 5-6 years 4k will be the new normal and that's when I'm also gonna switch from 1440p 240-360hz to 4k 240-360hz.

I took your advice and hooked it up via HDMI 2.1. Definitely a little more pop in the colors. Interestingly it says it isn’t validated as a Gsync Compatible display when hooked up via HDMI but it seems to be working

I reckon if you're getting into OLED this is the one. It's cheaper than its competitors at least for me (it's on sale on Amazon right now) and it is much less likely to suffer from burn-in than QD-OLED. Plus, not every game supports ultrawide still. The anti-glare matte coating on the panel isn't really that big of a deal breaker if you game in the day (small amounts of ambient light will reflect off of a glossy screen, unless your room is dark enough). 240hz is a bit overkill but obviously is a bonus as it gives you pretty decent overhead if you're planning on a component upgrade in the future. That being said, this is the beginning for OLED gaming displays. There is likely going to be more coming next year so waiting might not be that big of an issue for you. I ultimately decided to buy this monitor and I can't wait. Been waiting for something like this for a long time.

I just got this monitor and I have a Radeon 6900XT. I first used this monitor with DisplayPort and now I tested it with HDMI which seems to better. However with 240 hz in 1440p there is no 12 bit, just 10 bit. I can have 12 bit if I switch down to 144 hz. Is this a bandwidth issue with my GPU or something I need to do with CRU?

I honestly don't know why that is. What bitrate color? Vivid also changes things. Try C2 in color temp and maybe mess with the black level setting...

Actually its 10-bit with hdmi 2.1 and 12-bit with dp 1.4. Also at least on the PC I am dp 1.4 with 240hz natively support at 1440p. One thing I am noticing though is that on hdmi 2.1 the colors seems to be much more accurate out of the box compare to dp 1.4. EDIT: OMG bro! for some reason hdmi is so much smoother lol I just tried csgo and it is buttery smooth.

If you can eventually do tests for color accuracy, input lag, clarity, and research optimal gaming performance settings for your viewers, I feel like I'm just gonna ditch other channels completely and yours will be my one-stop shop. This stuff can be expensive (hello top tier cameras, good mics, other testing/measuring devices) but if you're serious about it and want to grow, I'm sure everyone will appreciate having a channel that covers it all this well. Still crazy to me that I have to go through over 10 other big/giant channels and yet I still had to get here to finally be satisfied. The "negative" (I have to, lol right?): -Would have been nice to have sound tests opinions, through the jack/optical ports, especially since the monitor doesn't have speakers so some will use those. How's the sound quality? How's DTS? etc.. It's not just a passthrough, it has to have a DAC, correct? How good is it, compared to say, the motherboard chip, or a 100$ popular usb DAC or something. Feels important imo. -Editing could improve a bit I guess, but yeah not at the detriment of your quality of content and vibe. If it's always this fun this I could totally ignore that forever. I guess all this time 3+ minutes I was trying to figure out what the hell monitor you're talking about from LG. I thought you were talking about their 45-in OLED; LG’s UltraGear 45GR95QE. That 240Hz 45-in LG OLED monitor is pretty damn good. I have its more expensive cousin the Corsair Flex. I also have the more expensive 175Hz Alienware AW3423DW; CPU-Z HSGHTK and 9MM3CZ I play Call of Duty and I've been playing it since the beginning, 32-in 16x9 was my preference and this 45 in is the equivalent but in 21x9 form. The 34-in Alienware is equivalent to a 27-in 16x9. Keep in mind people conflate OLED panel performance with their control board which is actually the limitations currently of OLED. .. My pet peeve with my RTX 4090 is for some dumbass reason Nvidia decided that DisplayPort 2.1 wasn't a necessary thing today. I wouldn't mind but my RTX 3090 already fully saturates my 175 Hertz alienware 3440x1440 and worse I have to limit it to 8-bit instead of 10-bit color. Onscreen crosshairs are not cheating. Again, I play Call of Duty where people are Wall Hacking .. that's cheating!

@@ZorzGaming .. The only reason that I can think that Nvidia didn't include DisplayPort 2.1 is because their G-Sync technology isn't capable of supporting it. So I don't know if it's a chip availability issue or a technology block that they can't overcome or the fact that their technology no longer is necessary and has been replaced. In either case, the omission of a DisplayPort 2.1 was a real gut punch especially to people looking at the RTX 4090. HDMI 2.1 appears to be working fine but it's not my preference. However, maybe the days of DisplayPort are coming to an end. It does seem rather odd to have two competing standards, and other than monitors DisplayPort has very limited acceptance; meaning very few TVs include a DP. And mentioning that it's also coming to the point where there's a blur between monitors and TVs, some of the best and most interesting setups that I've seen are where people are using exceedingly large 4K televisions with 120 Hz VRR + ALLM as their primary monitors with the screen split into multiple work areas for productivity. Also it works well in someone's bedroom where the monitor can double as a TV.

@@ZorzGaming .. I forgot to mention because I wasn't thinking about it. The problem with a large television set under 30 in from your nose becomes a real eye strain issue. So I wonder if something like the Corsair Flex or LG's 4K OLED Flex is just the beginning. I can tell you this, I literally would hate my monitor if it didn't have curvature to it. 800R is the closest curvature representation to have an equidistant from your eyes. Flat screen or a less curvy screen .. You're constantly refocusing and doing that for hours at a time is extremely difficult no matter your age.

W-OLED with MLA is better in color accuracy but it not matter on gaming. while AW using 1st generation QD-OLED and samsung can get white blind in some shitty game like destiny2. for me 1080p or 4k since no media is 2k or 1440p. also console can only go up to 120hz, it would be better if LG had lower spec option and the price will be much lower like 500 or 600 for 1k 120/144hz W-OLED MLA sub 24"

U2711 we used to remove the matte finish by soaking paper towels (lightly sprayed with misted water) over a day or two. Most AG coatings are stuck on via water based glue so it could be an option ;)

I tried this monitor with hdmi and dp and it was beautiful. The clarity is unreal, but, then i tried the aw3423dwf and even though the clarity and picture were slightly less impressive i loved the hdr and ultrawide. After heavily deliberation I stuck with the AW.
