It's pretty clear that you hate the watch and you are a Garmin user. I can list a whole list of issues with Garmin watches. Oh BTW Storm alarm doesn't go off unless the pressure drops 4hPa in 3 hours. So yes you can have rain and thunder and not have a storm alarm go off due to the storm being a progressive and not sudden. Suunto has an app that puts the Garmin app to shame. You slated this 9 peak, big time and trying to persuade people not to buy is not right. Jezzo, why did you even buy the watch in the fist place?

crappy review. not the product. 1st of all, this type of watch is not for everyone. this is pure sports watch that focuses on GPS accuracy, durability and battery life. not for smartwatch type like apple or venu or huawei watches. here are some points I want to oppose based on your review: @1:07 which other sports watch did you see that comes with Sapphire Glass and has protector? :) I dont see it in fenix nor in Vertix too. .Navigation: @1:13, you didnt mention the heatmaps, fusedtrack, and other features like SuuntoPlus. Didnt know these? well, you should if you start to review them. @3:30: wow, i cant beieve you dont know how GPS watches work. they need to be on the outdoor to get frequency my man. if you dont want to use GNSS, you can go to settings and turn off GPS so you only base with its accelometer. if you need accuracy,same with Garmin, you need to get locked in with gps. thats why it has that arrow icon. once you get a signal, it turns green and youre good to go! .@530 display of the watch outdoor? really? Ive been using my Peak and its very visible even more outside! @8:17 barometer. I doubt any watch could give you 100% accuracy with temperature. these sensors capture the air pressure of surrounding. not really as thermometer. check if your Garmin has the same temp values.lol it isnt! Coz these aren’t really made for exactly measuring the TEMP. Its just air pressure! altitude: didnt hear about calibration? this is a procedure where you have to set or change the value based on a known level/elevation of location. this is also same thing you have to do with your GArmin my friend. Bet you are reasing wrong alti the whole time. storm alarm: you need to know how this works. basically, if there is a sudden drop of 4 hpa. the sensor detects it and gives u a storm alarm. Wether there is a storm on your News channel or Not, as long as the sensors falls or rise 4hpa, well your Garmin and Suunto will tell you there’s a storm and you cant argue with that. 😂 crashing: have you updated the devise? looks like it just came from the box and you didnt even update. if you have updated it, then I must say go asn ask for repalcement coz my 9 peak doesnt do that. apple watch? in office or malls, yes, maybe. but not when yure doing Ultra race or triathlon or something that lasts 25 to 170 hrs with GPS. As I mentioned on d beginning, this watch is not for everyone to love. totally nonsense.

Hello, everyone! As a long-time user of various Suunto sports watches, I can claim a certain level of expertise in use. It is true that the current 9 series can only keep up with current smartwatches to a limited extent in terms of user experience, but I would always prefer my Suunto 9 to other products when it comes to my safety during risky outdoor activities. I don't see Suunto watches as gimmicky lifestyle gadgets, but as technical aids whose functionality is beyond any doubt. I've got the suunto 9, not the peak, it's my first sports watch and i've got no issues. the one thing that can be a bit frustrating is the gps can sometimes take a while to connect but that's usually my fault as i havnt done an update on it, once i've done the update it's quick and connected straight away. What you say about the touch screen is a load of bollocks lol never had a problem reading it and screen is always really reactive even in pissing down rain on a run. I've got a £1000.00 iphone and the touch screen is a load of shit when it rains what do you expect. I’ve used suunto for years but your right. To use a suunto is to be ok with compromise. The one compromise nobody should make is lagging interface given how much the 9 peak costs. For the first time I went with a polar pacer pro. I’ve taken to it like a duck to water. Suunto’s interface is just clunky not only in speed but in navigation too. My only regret is I didn’t use polar sooner. Simple interface and polar flow gets the job done without any fuss. Apart from build quality it’s just a better all round Watch then the suunto. Sorry suunto but not all finish brands are the same it would seem.

I wasn't convinced yet, but after this review I'm buying one, Pro version. and not thanks to you, but to those who left pertinent comments below. And what to notice, where I live in the EU-Germany, the Pro version is now with 200 Eur (approx. 40%) cheaper than the fenix 7. In addition, the endurance of Garmin batteries is lower over time and I've seen many who had to change the watch after 2-3 years. Surely not all people can handle fine electronics and not all people are good at evaluating things. If you put an elephant to evaluate the philosophy, dedication and work of the Finns who made this Suunto and the final product, clearly nothing else could have come out. Unfortunately Garmin operates according to policy: to produce a lot and cheaply and make a profit as much as possible. The Venu 2 and Forerunner 245 Music I've used haven't convinced me. Both were mediocre, GPS errors, bad headset connection and quickly scratched under normal use outside. Sorry, but I wouldn't wear Instinct 2 even if I got it as a gift. I consider it a Chinese toy for the mass of people who are not interested in well made things but to quickly have a piece of rubbish plastic under their noses. sorry, I haven't used it, but it looks that way to me from the pictures and video. And the comparison with Apple's indoor toys whose battery lasts 1 day is again misplaced... and apple product to compare with is 3 times more expensive. no thank you! you better make sport and let others do reviews. Or wait, sorry, you actually make money from this. Throwing shit around to get as many views as possible... Yeah, you're not to be trusted...

It was hard to take this review seriously from the beginning. e.g. 'A disaster like all Suunto products'. I've had a Suunto Ambit 2 Sapphire for over 10 years. Still as sturdy as fuck, amazing quality. The issue now is the battery and the fact it can't be repaired. It was a wonderful investment and I'll miss it. Suunto watches are serious sports watches, not to mixed up with gimmicky drivel out there. I don't know the Suunto 9 Peak well, maybe it's not up to scratch. However, if you are looking for a watch that plays music or netflix or you can check in for flight on....well then you're approaching this incorrectly. Should I compare a trial bike to a cheap road bike?
@ComputerStuff
@ComputerStuff Жыл бұрын
If you'd like to compare a trial bike to a cheap road bike you can........ and Suunto would still make bad products. Look, jokes aside, we have a lot of Suunto fans that come to the rescue of their products. But never is there a good reason why it's a better option over Garmin or Polar. They are just as serious players, both with fine reliability and better engineering.
@Coreylahey1000
@Coreylahey1000 Жыл бұрын
@@ComputerStuff Hi Chris. Thanks for your response. Now I need to ask...do you consider the Ambit line to be poor products? e.g. equating to competing products released at the time? Many still rate the Ambit 3 Peak as an option, though I wouldn't go down that route in 2023. They didn't get to where they are by producing poor products. I do believe that Suunto need to up the stakes, however I don't think that they can compete head-on with the entire Garmin line anymore. It would bankrupt them. They will likely need to remain focused on the adventure sports area (much like their diving watch products). They need to be competitive price-wise, but understand that these watches are manufactured in Europe, not mass-produced in China...therefore there is a premium to pay. I was attracted to the Ambit 2 due to it's clean, straight forward user interface and lack of gimmicks. I hope that they continue this philosophy.
@ComputerStuff
@ComputerStuff Жыл бұрын
@@Coreylahey1000 I admit I don't have experience with the Ambit line so I can't make an educated statement on them. I do agree that gimmick free and simplistic design are ideal - it's why I'm such a fan of the Garmin Instinct watches. I'm not "out" for Suunto. I welcome any new product they make and will gladly give my unbiased feedback on it. If Suunto wants to set out to make the 4Runner of watches (simple, but reliable) more power to them. But at least modernize interfacing and design. No body likes a clunker!

Damn, just when I thought I made up my mind. The S9 Peak was the only sports watch I can afford that doesn't look lik a sports watch. Maybe you should learn to use the watch before making ”review”. You don’t have tonyse touchscreen to get back, you simply long press the middle button. And i did the gps lock time with this watch, Fenix 6 and Polar pacer and they were all inside 35-45 sec so no big difference and obviously you don’t use gps inside😉
@ComputerStuff
@ComputerStuff 2 жыл бұрын
Long press is back to home, yes. But in situations where you're in sub menu > sub menu > sub menu - obviously that doesn't work and instead you have to use the painfully crappy touch screen. And as I had mentioned in the video, the GPS lock takes a long time OUTSIDE too. It's a crappy watch.

@@ComputerStuff As i said learn to use it….it takes you also back to previous menu in submenus. And outside the Gps has been on par with Fenix 6 and polar pacer. But you son’t like it and you have every right to think that way☺️
@boschtops
@boschtops Жыл бұрын
The watch interface hasn’t changed all that much from the earlier peak models. Long press on center button to go back or scroll to top of menu. No need to touch or swipe. Agree that the screen can be hard to read. Agree that temp can be misleading if on your wrist. The gps is not waiting for the feature to come on…it’s on. It is trying to get a lock with enough satellites to give you a reading. You can skip this and start on your way or you can wait. I have found that it pays to update the watch regularly to ensure the gps locks faster. Barometer needs reference pressure set or elevation set before you will get an accurate reading. Having owned several watches like this it is just something I do right out of the box and then continue to do so overtime to try to keep it is accurate as possible since pressure is affected by multiple factors. Easiest way is to go to a weather report for your location and get a barometric pressure reading. The next is to set the watch outside for a bit and use the fused altitude function with gps. Last is to figure out what elevation you are at and use that as the reference. Big changes in pressure trigger the storm alarm…not a feature I rely on at home but has been helpful at high elevation. Clearly you are frustrated with the watch and that is fine. I have grown accustomed to it and it’s potential flaws are not as obvious to me. It could be better but it’s also not as junk as your review suggests. If I had a garmin or something else you consider to compare it to I would but nobody is paying me to test drive these things and money doesn’t grow on trees.

@@ComputerStuff for a simple reason. is a sports watch in the real world. if I run trails, the gains are very important. what after training if it shows me that i was 80m lower? any armband is enough to get to the city. you compare toys to sports watches with no field to check. and it is weak because it is not true.

@@mojezabardast Respectfully, I still disagree with your sentiment. I do not think a Garmin (or even an apple watch) is a toy. These companies obsess over R&D, solid metrics, and good internals.

@@ComputerStuff I don't know why but my Fenix 6 pro also didn't read barometric right. It was wrong too many times, if I'm on sea level it shows -30m, and even if I manually corrected altitude it still shows wrong data after a few hours...

Agree, this watch is garbage. Slow, unreliable and overpriced. I loved Spartan which works faster and smoother but Peak is disappointing and a waste of money.

I have noticed such a hate in the majority of your videos about everything else except the watch/ brand on your wrist.I recommend you shoud calm down and have a different approach on how to analyse other brands and be fair not only saying negative stuff just because it's not of your liking or your favourite brand.Your videos should provide only informations and not your own preferences right.Hope you understant it. ps: just to know I'm not a Suunto fan but talking in general.

Between Garmin and Suunto, I've always had better reading with Suunto. For your reading, do proper research and set the watch when you get it. Or you got yourself a lemon. Why did you buy the Instinct 2 Tactical?

I bought the Instinct Solar 2 - LOVE that thing. Can get beaten to s**t, has near similar readings as the Apple Watch (the gold standard for health accuracy). Solid little gadget.

It's not a hard formula for them to fix. Create a UI that doesn't feel like its trudging through mud. Garmin did it, Suunto can do it. They just.... refuse? lol.

This watch is horrible. Its so slow! I mean... for a product that costs this amount of money it should be at least as fast as a FR245. I wanted to update my FR, but holy crap, this one is pure shit. It just looks good. Its not practical at all. And the screen is so dark... jesus. Thank god it is possible to get my money back at store.

@@ComputerStuff its sad, as I rooted for this watch as soon as I seen it. And to add a little bit more volume to my point of view, I bought the Suunto 5 Peak at first. It was even worse. Both watches are impossible to read, even in the sunlight, both are slow and laggy. Id be worried that it would stop working at all if I took any of these two on a hike. Also, a flagship watch with no offline maps... are you kidding me? But after all I must say, it looks awesome. When its switched off. Also the app is cool. Shame I cant use it on my good old FR245.
