You are all hating on this man but all he is doing is giving an instructional video on how to use the product. I have broke in a lot of my gloves by using this product and by using the oven and it WORKS GREAT!!! and to those complaining about it drying out the leather.... THAT IS WHY YOU USE THE LEATHER CONDITIONER AFTER!!!! AND YOU USE IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER UNTIL THE LEATHER IS NOT DRY ANYMORE!!! wow

My dad did an oven treatment to all my new gloves when I was a kid. I still have most of them and took proper care of them when I was playing and they still look great, no cracking in the leather at all. I do know my dad would heat the oven to 350 turn it off and leave the glove wrapped with a ball in the oven as it cooled for about 10-15 minutes cant remember what he put on it before putting in the oven. Its all different for different people but as long as you properly maintain your glove as it ages starting with an oven treatment isnt gonna wreck it.

Thge oven method is not always reliable. If you want a quick break in use one of the conditioner or oil from this list: bestbaseballreviews.com/best-baseball-glove-conditioner-and-oil-reviews/

probably saddle soap. I had a pair of leather boots when I was in high school and they were stiff, hard on the feet. Saddle soap on the leather, placed in a 300 degree oven for 5-10 minutes and they were so soft afterward that they would flop over, wouldn't even stand up on their own. They felt absolutely great wearing them. That's been well over 30 years ago, the saddle soap and oven trick works great on baseball gloves too.

I’ve had my glove for over 20 years and it is still I amazing shape. First day I got it I smothered it in gasoline and baked it at 350 turning the oven off after I put it in for exactly 13 minutes. Let it cool and repeated once more the next day. Is definitely the best way to break In a glove and doesn’t ruin it I. The long run like some fools on here think

Do not do anything he just said it doesn’t work and will dry out the leather if you want ur glove broken in buy glove oil or put a ball in the glove wrap it and then tie a string or something around it overnight then play catch
@Galla-Baseball3 жыл бұрын
Yep. Basically. I wipe the outside of the glove with a hot rag. And then I sit in front of a pitching machine, and catch like 1000 baseballs. Maybe use some oil. But thats about it. Took me a long time to realize, there is no good shortcut to breaking a glove in properly.

I've broken in all my gloves in an oven. It's works very well, and as long as there's oil on the glove the whole time, there is no drying. It's a trade secret... You know baseball is known for those.

I guess different strokes for different folks. But there’s zero chance I’m putting my glove in a oven. IMO the best way to break in a new glove is simply go and use it. To speed up the process lightly oil. Nokona recommends petroleum jelly. It doesn’t take much. You can work the glove with your hands. You can also use a glove mallet. When you put your glove in your bag always put a ball in it. JMO.

If you buy a good glove DON'T do this or steam it, I bought my son a new Rawlings heart of the hide glove for $265, he took it to his friends house and they watched this video and tried it, it dried out the glove and voided the warranty. I had to buy another glove the next season and just had him play catch, used a glove mallet and then place a softball in the pocket and wrap a band around it. You need to break in a glove slowly and keep the leather conditioned. This will work if you need to break in a glove quickly for a tournament or something, however, it will not last and you will need to buy another one in a year or two.

I'm sorry, but $265 is infuriating. Sure, as an engineer that's a drop in the bucket for me. But for others, that's probably half of their paycheck. It saddens me to know our youth are getting priced out of enjoying an American Past Time.

Too much oil/conditioner and putting it in the over just dries out the leather that doesnt get conditioned (like the laces inside the glove) and makes them brittle.

Although this does help you break in your glove faster it also dries out and damages the leather in the long run.

If you're playing ball with it, that doesn't really matter it's going to get very dirty... What does matter is being able to open a close it with no effort...

Not if you do it right and take care of it. I've had my glove for 20 years and it's great. Oil the glove every couple years and it won't have any issues.
@cadenelson61185 жыл бұрын
Not trying to hate on the video and don't see this as a bad thing to do to a very cheap glove maybe for a kid, but if you are actually playing competitively and are spending good money on a glove this is a horrible idea. Even though you might be moisturizing the whole outside of the glove, the laces go in and out. If you can't moisturize the laces on the inside they will dry out making them easier to snap way faster than if you just break it in.
@michaelopry34569 ай бұрын
if you aren't getting oil on that part of the laces, it's drying out anyway. leather needs to be oiled and treated at least once a month.
