As a senior (80), have lived a long life, however each time I hear Bishop Barron talk on a particular subject and/or re-read scripture , I’m always amazed to get some “new insight” from it. When my husband was dying in Jan 2018 ( he was a convert), I suddenly realized he was worried about me,..suddenly I had such a total knowledge about the timelessness omg God and expressed this to him, “ before you can blink your eye I’ll be with you again”. He closed his eyes and was gone. It was the most beautiful death I have ever seen & was filled with this joy that lasted until well after his funeral. God is good! I have no fear of death, it’s living that can be difficult! Thanks again, enjoy your video & and weekly sermon with Bishop. God Bless! 🇨🇦☮️ ✝️🙏 P

Jesus was tempted in all ways as we are yet without sin. Somehow Jesus' humanity as "a son of man " enabled Him to experience man's temptations and yet he was without sin. "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. " Thanks for this great biblical teaching on fear.

"If You are gold, you will be able to go through the fire" was the voice that I heard 10 years back, deep within my being in the silence of that moment, when I was put through a testing by fire n I knew not what awaited me. As I read in one of the posts and rightfully said the grace of God is given to you at the moment you require, not before n not after. Provided one surrenders this helplessness to the God who will make you walk on stormy waters.Just have to constantly n consciously keep our shifting gaze focussed on Him who can and will carry us through.

Bishop Barron and Brandon help me understand more deeply why I was attracted to the Catholic Church and faith all my life. I was confirmed 2 years ago this. Pentecost along with my ex protestant husband after 40 years of marriage. During Catechism we were introduced to then Father Barron and have sought him out ever since. He talks my language. He doesn't dumb down the difficult parts and Brandon asks the questions that I might have. Covid has kept me as a senior from my Church but I have my television Mass from Fr. Gatzak in CT everyday and. Bishop Barron. I have learned more about my sacred religion than in my 2 years of Catechism and am hungry from more always. I have a request if you would be so kind. Please pray for my daughter and 4 grandchildren one us a foster. Please pray with me for their baptism and conversion and confirmation into the Catholic Church. Today i woke up with a lot of fear and the Holy Spirit directed me to the Word on Fire, Do not Fear which reached my mind with the clear explanation by Tillich on our finitude making us understand the root of fear. The path of leaving the self centered ego and moving to the path of love is the way to be in God’s peace which intellectually seems so right, but to put it into practice is so challenging. Bishop Barron reading the gospel every day as well as your comments helps me greatly to set the pace towards abandonment in the Lord’s mercy as well as much gratitude for all His blessings in my life. Your program is one. Thank you.

This was a good discussion. I know I took you to task last week Bishop Barron, but your insights here were on point and welcomed. For my part, I am not afraid. I have overcome all fear of death. Rather, I feel like Paul who wrote in Philippians 1:23-24: "23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body."

This is a genuine solid data source for both initial and ongoing education. We need to keep learning. As a convert during college I was handed a book of instruction and expected to make sense of it myself. I could not learn that way; too many questions unanswered and I have never been an A student... at best a 'B'. I NEED clarity. He seems to give it again and again.

Wow, this is one of the most important things I've ever watched. As a Catholic who has an anxiety disorder and scrupulosity but didn't know I had these issues til years later, God was really looking out for me when he told me to choose St. John Paul II as my Confirmation saint. Although I chose St. John Paul II because I believe God told me to, another reason I picked him was because of his motto "Be not afraid." The "be not afraid" motto comforted me then but comforts and strengthens me even more now when I'm dealing with worse fears and anxieties than when I was Confirmed. God is so good, so loving, and so merciful

I suffer pretty much what you have described for many years. I cling to my Catholic faith and to prayer. I am well aware that our soul will only rest once we are with God. Still, I worry about the many trials ahead which could be horrendous. I don’t have the temperament nor the emotional fortitude to deal with many of these things, therefore I continue to have anxiety. I pray quite a bit and try hard to place everything in Jesus’ hands, still I can’t overcome the anxiety. Also, out of love, I worry about close family members who I know are suffering. Love does not free me from this but adds to my worries. Love to hear input on this very vulnerable post of mine.

@@luluq01 are you asking for my advice? If so, I feel honored. I'm not a doctor or an expert, so I don't know if I'm qualified, but I can direct you to resources that help reduce my anxiety (sometimes even eliminate my anxiety for long periods of time) and help increase my trust in God and in God's mercy. I've made a total consecration to Mary Immaculate recently, and I think that's a great place to start! Mary is our Mother who loves us very much! If God tells us 365 times in Scripture to not be afraid or not have anxiety, Mary who is sinless and always does the will of God and is our Mother who loves us more than our biological mothers, wouldn't She also want us not to be afraid and not be anxious? Mother Mary's intercession and protection from evil are very powerful. And if you make a total consecration to Mary Immaculate, she will help form you into a saint more quickly and easily and She will always lead you to Jesus. I suggest reading the book 33 Days to Morning Glory by Fr. Michael Gaitley. It's a short book where you read 2 pages each day for 33 days. The book will teach you about Marian Consecration and at the end of the 33 days, you can choose one of the several Marian Consecration prayers to make your own consecration. St. Louis de Montfort, St. Pope John Paul II, St. Mother Teresa, and St. Maximilian Kolbe each made a total consecration to Mary ☺

@@katherine5590 Thank you for your interest. I try praying the rosary daily and I have done shorter versions of the consecration to Mary. I can’t answer the second question because we don’t know what the future holds. On a more larger scale, do you think the Jews in the concentration camps did not pray many times to God? Do you think parents who have children dying of cancer or other illnesses did not pray to God? I know God has a plan for all of us, but even if we put ourselves in His hands, how can we be not afraid or anxious about the trials we will be asked to face? I also suffer when my loved ones are suffering. This is my dilema. I appreciate very much you taking the time to respond.

@@luluq01 In hearing and reading about St. Therese of Lisieux recently, I've finally found a saint I relate to a lot, because she also had anxiety and scrupulosity; she also felt weak, little, broken, and sinful like I do. But she learned to boldly trust in God's infinite mercy. So reading her autobiography and learning about the Little Way has reduced my anxiety and exponentially increased my trust in God's mercy and increased my trust that even though I'm weak and sinful, God can and will turn me into a saint. I suggest reading St. Therese of Lisieux's autobiography "The Story of a Soul"

Yes When I go Deep inside myself I find there is fear for my life. 2 Timothy1:7 God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a Spirit of love, Power and a sound mind.

I just listened to this again and it took me right back to when I first read the Existentialists back in the mid-1980s. I eventually left my Christian religion then over the eventual consequences of those ideas. My tradition was not very tolerant of intellectuals, unfortunately. But thanks to Catholic Tradition I now see a different path that was open to me at the time, and I thank the richness and depth of the Catholic intellectuals. Bishop Barron and Brandon Vogt open the door to some wonderful and deeply healing excursions available inside Catholic philosophic tradition. Thank you.

This is perfect timing. Bishop Barron, your words just hit home. I realize that we all have fear in ourselves and are dealing with it in different ways. Emotionally unbalanced. We've had our normalcy taken away and families divided and at the same time being faced daily with the news of the pandemic with numbers of deaths and cases thrown at us. I turn to God to help Me as a Godmother be patient with my Godson and family members knowing that we will be saved and God will give us back our peace. These words and your homilies help Me to practice, understand and keep your words in my heart and to Not Fear myself. Thank you

That was really helpful. I find myself in such great distress, old, useless, trapped by covid and the Albany weather and my house fire made me move, and I am not in good shape mind or body. So i have been praying and studying the Bible and that makes me more afraid because I have been so rotten all my life and don't know if God will take me back. You have made me realize God is an infinite place of the heart, so I should just go there and not try to litigate, just go.

It’s 1:22 am and I’m still awake. Only now, my mind is at peace. The reasons for my anxiety were drawn out exactly as they were by the bishop….. I just was overlooking these flaws. I think that in my moments when my anxiety is at its worst, it’s because I’ve distanced myself from God through sin, and the burden is truly a physical and mental one. Thank you for the reminder that God is love, and only through love will any of us be free from our earthly burdens. God bless you and Thank you.

Glenn Harty I was just alerted to Bishop Barron and Word on Fire and to let you know I enjoy his words very much. Being alerted to him is similar to finding the Pearl of great price, it is my prayer I will be better able to pass on Love because of my association with him. Thank you to all involved

Anxiety is a by product of sin. By sinning we move away from the grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Pax Christi.

I am a recent confirmation to Catholicism. I grew up as a Methodist and was then for decades an attendee of non-denominational churches as I furthered my career around the globe. 2 1/2 years ago I arrived here in the US and was invited to a local Catholic Church and found home as it were. During my RCIA process I regularly listened to you and together with the study of catechism decided to confirm at the Easter vigil in 2021. I continue to listen to you and find so much in your sharing of faith and understanding. Thank you, and my prayers for you and the wonderful team you have for grace, peace and the blessings of continued wisdom.

Whatever it takes for us to get closer to God, let it be. Whether a pandemic or anything else, let us "not be afraid". Dear Lord, keep us ever so close to your most Sacred Heart in body, mind and spirit.

Very well done. I truly believe pride followed by fear is the cause most sin…all the way back to the beginning…and understanding WHY we think we’re the masters of our universe, acting on it, followed by a fall, helps a person to not be so hard on himself and others. Hooray our Lord and forgiveness!!!Awesome❣️
