This is probably why I’ve never seen a video of someone who actually fixed it. Just endless videos of “experts” telling us what APT is, followed by the same stretches, ab, and glute exercises. This video is appreciated!

I have always been embarrassed about having apt to be honest.. it makes me more than self conscious
@TappBrothers4 жыл бұрын
Feel for you on being self conscious about it and it seems many people have the same feelings with their APT from the likes on your comment. However, you don't need to feel that way or embarrassed, what we found is a lot people have APT. If you aren't experiencing any pain/issues from it and you don't have any muscle imbalances (which many people with APT won't) then it's likely something not to worry about. So if it's not causing issues, we say rock your APT with confidence and don't worry about it. And if it's other people's perception of your APT that bothers you, 1.- people who care about that kind of stuff rather than your character are honestly not worth the energy. 2. If you own your APT with confidence, most of the time, those people who do care, will forget about it, or see past it. Stay strong 💪

Hope you enjoy this video on APT! We had fun doing the research on this one. This video attempts to debunk some of the popular claims with APT while shining light on several studies on the topic. Make sure to watch the entire video, at the end we touch on where we stand with Anterior Pelvic Tilt after viewing several studies and resources on the topic. To sum it up, 1. It seems many of us have anterior pelvic tilt and it can be perfectly healthy or normal to have. (Studies showed 75% of healthy and most healthy athletes will have APT. It actually looks to be an advantage for athletic performance) 2. Your anterior pelvic tilt could be cause by muscle imbalances and something you need to fix. Especially excessive APT. However, for the majority of people, it's likely nothing to worry about. (studies showed many people who had anterior pelvic tilt were healthy and did not have overly tight hip flexors or weak abs) 3. It seems APT gets all the attention to determine muscle imbalances but instead of looking for APT, it would be much more accurate to check the specific muscle groups for these muscle imbalances with tests such as the Thomas Test and others. (Studies showed pelvic tilt can range 23 degrees due to bone structure alone and many people have APT without bad muscle imbalances) 4. Most importantly, if you have APT and are experiencing pains & issues. It's best to see a physical therapist or qualified doctor. They can evaluate you one on one and further pin point the causes of your pains/issues. 5. Good news is the exercises provided by many articles and videos to fix APT are generally great exercises to train. Make sure to subscribe for more videos, we have a new bodyweight series coming your way over the weeks! Give this video a like if you enjoyed it and leave a comment below to join the discussion. Train safe and stay strong! 💪 Tapp Brothers

Anterior pelvic tilt can directly lead to kyphosis, as a person's base of support is altered, their rib cage shifts backwards, and the anterior organs shift forward. If someone has anterior pelvic tilt that is not yet excessive, then it needs to be addressed.

Are these studies treating APT as a binary or as a range? High degrees of APT may warrant interventions that low degrees don’t. Counter-APT exercises have been a big help to me.

i have anterior pelvic tilt, had it for years. videos like these are both so frustrating and helpful because although myths are 'debunked' yet no 'actual' explenations are provided. i dont remember ever being able to cross my legs, my range of movement in my hips is minimal, i never saw anyone with as little range of movement in my hips as i have. (neither has anyone i ever met). i have always been a great runner, in terms of being fast that is. my abs ARE weak and i do have lower back pain and cant lay flat on my bed withouth something under my lower back or my knees. i also cant lay flat on my bad with my legs on the floor, it causes me a lot of pain and its impossible. im 17, what do i do? how do i fix this? is my anterior pelvic tilt simply a myth despite all my issues?? can anyone give me a factual answer?(im a female, height 169cm tho this information may be useless)

Just focus on getting stronger in your weak areas and increasing hip mobility. The position of your pelvis is irrelevant and likely not causing your problems, but the weak muscles probably are.

While APT exits, I’ve never felt it was something that needed correcting. I’ve likened it to someone having a mild arched foot vs a mild flat foot: it’s simply a difference in how bodies develop and neither one require correcting. I’ve seen mild APT in body types that typically have a strong lower body. I suspect coding this as an “issue” isn’t particularly based in rigorous studies and is more than likely an attempt to confirm some unsavory biases.
@shiningdawn85784 жыл бұрын
APT usually exists within a matrix of tension that also causes neck, shoulder, and upper back pain. APT is one of the more common things that happen when the tension along the fronts of our bodies is shorter than that of the backs of our bodies. As we fold our pelvises, for sitting, and couple that with unprocessed anxiety... the hips just got a bit tighter and more forward. As we resolve the stresses along our deep anterior planes, APT can naturally correct itself. Crazy hard work to do.

I don't feel any sort of pain. I used to do hath yog asanas and I did it for a fairly long time after I learned it from my guru. From my childhood I had a passion for taekwondo and I've been practicing ever since. The problem with me is that now my whole waist and vertebra is too flexible, it almost feels like its loose now. When I stand, if I'm not paying attention to my waist, it either moves to the front creating that look of APT, and sometimes it bends backwards creating a weird posture.

@wanjahe87494 жыл бұрын
Does it cause you issues? Or is it a very big difference? If it isn't, i honestly wouldn't stress too much about it. There are exercises to decrease it but honestly, i have never seen anyone with exactly even legs, ever. There is no perfect symmetry in living beings. Your inner organs aren't symmetric, your movements aren't symmetric either and your musculosceletal system responds to that by adapting. Unless you are uneven to the point of being unbalanced, this is actually a healthy physical reaction

I agree to a certain extent. but tight muscle is a thing but its caused by another group of musles disabling its range of motion therefore make thight. And often the another group of muscles isnt weak but too strong that it takes over the muscle you wanna focus on in excersising. So sometimes training your ass off wont solve a thing if you dont understand what is wrong with your muscles.

My personal reason for fixing apt is in my wushu/shaolin forms, when I do MaBu, GongBu and other stances I stick my butt out to make it easier to get my legs wide which I shouldn't, at least not for competition or looking good. But I do agree that it helps with range of motion especially when I gongbu it feels like i'm over stretching my hip if I try so it's trying to find where it's necessary. In daily life it has bothered me but I don't think its actually as much of a problem as it is in my head haha Anyway, good video, very insightful!

First of all since when did you become funny? Your demonstrations at the beginning were hilarious. I think APT has a degree of tilt to it right? And I don't think its particularly a bad thing. In my opinion, its usually bone structure or adaptation. I've seen girls that like to 'chest out' and 'shoot out their butt' if you know what I mean. Usually early teens trying to 'belong'?🤔 Down the years their pelvis just tilt to the adaptations or middle aged men with beer belly, the weight pulls their spine forward more than their weak(unexercised) core muscles can support and it looks like a pelvic tilt unless its an optical illusion or something. Bottom line I think its either bone structure which is not a bad thing or muscular issues which need addressing.....🤓
