one of the busiest, hectic, energetic cities we have ever been to! absolutely fell in love with the energy of Bangkok- it is so much fun, but also high key to know these essential tips before you head there! ( ・ω・)ノ
⋙ location can really affect your stay, since the city is so wide, if you choose a western-friendly area vs local you’ll have a totally different experience.
⋙ Crossing the road is a true daily challenge- follow a local that knows what they’re doing or jut in when you can and raising your arm out to traffic to help visibility/survival
⋙ avoid traveling during rush hour or you could be stuck in traffic for hours.+. take the metro or stay local during!
⋙ you’ll need cash; for everything from tuktuks, taxis + street food
⋙ confirm the price beforehand for taxis or tuktuks, or make sure the meter is during to avoid being overcharged
⋙ dress for the humidity + heat, but if you’re heading to temples, make sure to cover your shoulders
⋙ Learn a few basic phrases in Thai, a little goes a long way, and if not Google Translate helps!
Bangkok is like NYC x Hong Kong met up in the summer all year round and then added all the chaotic mopeds in from Taiwan- I like to think that all of these places prepped us for Bangkok! 🤣🫡

Advice from locals: 1. Avoid tuktuk. A total scam!! Choose Grab instead. 2. Taking MRT during rush hours is also a hell experience. They’re quite packed but people still keep their parameters cleared.😂 3. There’re actually the unspoken dress codes in Bangkok. It’s a capital city. It’s a business area. Dress casually but still appropriate. Also need to cover up when visiting temples or the Grand Palace. Keep the revealing attire for the beach areas like Phuket/Pattaya. 4. We’ve totally shifted to a cashless society nationwide, but it comes in a form of qr code payment, which is not well recognised in the western countries. That’s why you need cash. But be aware that some stores don’t accept cash at all.

Not all QR codes work with Alipay etc. Will need a local Thai bank account most of time to pay via QR code. So it's not very helpful for tourists.

Thai here, a few tips: - There are busses EVERYWHERE but they most likely can’t speak english and kind of slow when traffic. But they’re like 30 cents to a dollar per trip lol there are bus maps out there - when crossing the street, hell nah just use zebra crossings and cross when its braindead easy, or find a bridge. Im not risking my ass for this shit lmao - if you are in a very local place, no need to haggle :) the price is already low as fk cuz its priced for locals. Don’t be afraid to buy and eat anything you see! Different faces are exciting to us, but striking up a conversation with randoms isn’t really done here. You’re welcome try tho: it’s not rude. But don’t expect a quick friendship everytime, having an awkward hi and bye is ok

What are good areas to stay in as a first time bangkok solo female traveller?
@HeadBangerExtreme
@HeadBangerExtreme 2 ай бұрын
@@Claudia-ie3gu Hmm I would assume safety is your concern being alone. Someone else should contribute to this, but IMO places in Bangkok that aren’t super touristy are your best bet. That means staying away from Khao Sarn, Soi Nana, maybe Pratunam. These places are safe to visit at least, but for staying at a place maybe you’ll feel better in: Chinatown (lots of people all the time) Sukhumvit Soi 20-28 Thong Lor Sukhumvit Soi 71 Sukhumvit 101/1 Soi Ratchadapisek I’d suggest anywhere near a BTS or an MRT because being able to walk to the train station means you can think a lot less about how you’ll get to places: just ride the trains lol. Use Google Maps, and use Grab/Bolt as an Uber! Let me know if you have any more questions

Crossing like that is not the way! It’s not Vietnam and most drivers go fast cause they expect people not to cross during ongoing traffic. People can get seriously hurt, especially in Thailand where people drive bigger cars; so please do proper research before giving “advice” next time!

I was about to say!! I was so scared for them! I know it’s that way in Vietnam bc traffic is hyper aware due to lack of traffic signals and proper road signs but it’s different in Thailand! You wait for the vehicles to cross! Pedestrians don’t really have the right of way. It’s a huge metropolitan city with crazy traffic, you can’t expect it to be the norm for people to slow down for you when there’s traffic. Just use common sense and have empathy for drivers. Also, cross with bridges if you can!

Bangkok travel guide as I’m Thai :) - Use the BUS, you’ll figured out this cheap as hell for wherever you go, but if you can’t access the bus… use taxi, motorcycle, TukTuk is not really recommended in my opinion in term of Prices you have to pay for it. - The hot air bus (Old and vintage looks like) The fare always fixed (8 THB and some route are 10 THB) this one is cheapest - AC Bus have a standard fare per stop (and it won’t be exceeded to 1 buck at all) - If you don’t know how to go, Google maps provides you a bus routes (Pro tip. Thai bus number is shown in the brackets when you finding for routes, you can see the number of bus route 1 up to 3 digits, the another number is official standardized number and its not popular to call it for Thais) - The cons of this way is just a time consumed for waiting, some route came faster and some is slower as it should be. if you chill and want to save your wallet health just go for it :)

It is very difficult for tourists to use coach services in Bangkok. Yes, you can find out the line you can use Google maps or ViaBus... but both Apps are not very precise. Google bus always tells me the buses will go every two minutes, but in reality it is not true at all. May be it has improved, but I do not trust it so much. And using an AC service means you have to know your destination. I wish Bangkok finally would apply spider card.

It is a good way to travel certainly, but I would not call it for "super Cheap". It can be quite expensive, especially if you want to go from let us say Asok by BTS to North of Mo Chit (I think 62 Baht = 2,30€ which matches some prices in Europe). If you are two or three than it can be cheaper to just take a taxi metre.
