This was helpful. I didn’t realize I have 2 different accounts until I had someone update my LinkedIn and the updated account was not the one I frequent. To merge them without copying and pasting everything to my frequent one is a pain. Still need to understand the separation
@DelawareShoutOut Жыл бұрын
Thanks, Sonya! Multiple profiles only happen when someone joins LinkedIn multiple times, each time setting up a brand new account. They're not "connected" to each other in any way. Most of the time, I've seen, multiple accounts are completely accidental.

Best to have one high level profile and cater resume's to opportunities. Only caveat is that recruiters may not find you as easily because detailed functional info wouldn't be available. For instance, if you were director level, but are also interested in lower level roles (because you need a job $$$!!!), putting senior level would suffice. I.e., Director of Engineering would never be considered as just an engineer; but 'Senior level - Engineering' would look okay and get you through the door to explain your situation. LinkedIn has become a new Facebook anyway, and as some have already commented it a bit of a 'clown world' on that platform anyway. Don't use 'easy apply', and directly apply to a job on the company website.

Great advice as always Brooke - frustrating that in this day and age where people have multiple focus points and careers, THE career social media networking site does not really make it easy. Almost as if one person, one job remains the preferred space to be.

Quick question, what do you do if youre an executive sales officer that represents two partnering companies, but one of the companies could be a conflict of interest (they do billing), which may be a conflict with the prospects business, how would you handle that? Again, I want to rep both businesses, but shield certain prospects from the business where there may be a conflict? Thanks, appreciate your help!
@DelawareShoutOut8 ай бұрын
Thanks for asking! I'm assuming, then, that you're either working for yourself as an independent contractor, or you're working for a completely separate company that has hired you to represent the two partnering companies. In that case, list yourself as an employee of whatever you are truly an employee of. Then, talk about the industry or products as much as you can (putting in whatever keywords you can) without naming names. I hope that helps!

Thank you so much Brooke! you’re amazing❤ so i am sticking with one profile but I'm afraid it would be confusing to some people/ recruiters when they see 2 resumes features on my profile ( I am still job hunting so the two are equally important for now) so what do you suggest I do? Again thank you! Your efforts are appreciated❤
@DelawareShoutOut Жыл бұрын
That‘s a really good question, Saria! Maybe label the resumes differently enough in the Featured section so recruiters know where to go? There‘s another KZbinr who has LinkedIn videos but focuses on the recruitment side of it, so you may want to see if she has a video that answers that question. Her name is Dr. Heather Austin. Good luck!

I do recruiting and I don't message or Connect profiles but LinkedIn is suspecting I'm using tool and keeps me logged out automatically. I fear of losing my connections, can I make a random profile just to check profiles as I do recruiting
@DelawareShoutOut4 ай бұрын
That's a good question. If you're using the same IP address, LinkedIn might see that and not like it.

Great video, thank you! But in my case, it's important for both jobs to prospect clients from LinkedIn, even though they have nothing to do with each other (illustrator and translator). The illustrator one is not giving me much money right now as I'm a beginner, but it's the dream for me to grow in this field. At the same time, translation pays my bills and LinkedIn is one of the best ways to get work for both careers, so I'm still a little lost :(
@DelawareShoutOut11 ай бұрын
I totally understand. LinkedIn has lately really started cracking down on duplicate profiles (like, deactivating accounts), so it's really important to have just one profile. Maybe for now, keep your translation work as the focus of the profile and illustration as a second billing into you're more immersed it in. I know - there's no simple answer here.

@DelawareShoutOut7 ай бұрын
Thanks for asking, Gaia! I know a lot of people who put both their concurrent jobs in the same profile, and then they just choose which one is listed first and emphasized in the profile overall. If that’s not possible for you, then focus your profile on just one job.

Even if I have two different careers I’m a dentist and also a fashion designer Isn’t going to be confusing to have it all in one LinkedIn ??
@DelawareShoutOut6 ай бұрын
Thanks for asking! Yes, it will cause some confusion, but it's literally against LinkedIn's TOS to have more than one profile, and you don't want to have your profiles compromised as a result. If LinkedIn is important for just one of your careers and not both, then focus your profile, engagement, posts, etc. on the industry that makes sense for LinkedIn.
@manalosama54336 ай бұрын
Ok, thank you for answering, if I make one main LinkedIn for a career do you suggest mentioning the other career experience just in the job history or never mention it at all?
@DelawareShoutOut6 ай бұрын
@@manalosama5433 It may be helpful to mention it in the Experience section (in case someone who knows you from your other career checks out your profile), but it's not the first listing.

Here's the deal with my profile. Maybe you can help me figure out what to do. I work as a copywriter and email strategist, but I'm really not enjoying my job anymore. It's become quite dull and boring. Nevertheless, I'm actively searching for new job opportunities because i have to pay the bills, right? I also maintain a consistent online presence, posting content at least once a week. This has earned me a following, and people know me for my work as a copywriter and email strategist. But I want to shift my focus on web and app design, which is something I have some experience in. I'm thinking to start sharing design-related content to potentially attract leads. So, what's your advice in this situation? It's tricky because I can't exactly apply for copywriting jobs while my content is all about design. Any ideas? Also, in my country we have 2 last names so maybe i can get away with that haa
@DelawareShoutOut Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question, Bruno! It is a tricky situation. What about having a transition period where your profile and posts address both fields? And as you get more clients in your new field, you can phase out any mention of you old field. This isn’t great for the LinkedIn algorithm but at least ensures you can still pay the bills. I don’t think there’s a perfect answer to this. I would still strongly urge you to not have duplicate profiles, as LinkedIn is cracking down more and more on this. Best of luck in your new career!

Hey, I had multiple LinkedIn accounts. All got restricted. I wasn't even using all of them, I was using just one. Now they aren't even lifting the ban on even 1 account. What should I do? Should I make a new account on another IP address?
@DelawareShoutOut11 ай бұрын
I think that's what you'll have to do. LinkedIn has been cracking down on multiple accounts from the same IP address. Definitely just stick with 1 account to stay in good standing!
