I've played this game myself, here are some tips: There are several spots in the game where you can hide infinitely, as a precaution against that you will either take damage or it will bring you back to the main menu. Very few of them can see more than a few feet in front of them, although they turn around very quickly, so you shouldn't take any chances. There are glowsticks on those weird red nights.
