My sister read this for me at the cemetery when my son died. Sadly, I read this for her 8 years later at the cemetery for the funeral for her daughter. Watching this video sent chills through my body. Such painful memories. My heart goes out to all who have lost a loved one and we must have faith that they live on in another, and a better life, than the one here on earth.

The scene where the lady realized what happened is so powerful. This video is emotionally draining. I can;t help but cry as I watch it.

Oh gosh, thank you SO MUCH for posting Mary Frye's original poem. It is much softer and comforting at the same time. I hope at least MY dear departed are not diamond glints on snow. Ugh.

Ben does a brilliant job on this song. Paul K. Joyce has written wonderful songs similar to this one. I say, has anyone seen the movie "The Snow Queen" it is brilliant. Well Done.

Wikepedia - A set of operatic songs had been written by Paul K. Joyce for a concert at the Barbican Arts Centre held in 2003. The songs narrated the fairytale of The Snow Queen and featured Sydney White as the lead girl soprano, Juliet Stevenson as the narrator and the London Symphony Orchestra providing instrumentals. Due to the success of the concert, a full-fledged film was developed around the original songs, and in which Sydney White and Juliet Stevenson returned to contribute as actresses.

My chambor choir, Burntwood Chambor Choir (myself included) were the choir who did the backing vocals for the whole Snow Queen piece. I sang Soprano. Utterly the best experience of my life. We also recorded it in several different languages

That was so sad and beautiful! Who was the boy doing the speaking part? It doesn't sound like Ben. In the soundtrack it was a woman's voice, whoever she was doing the narrating. I love this video, thank you for sharing it!

Did Ben Crawley do the speaking solo of the song as well as the singing solo? I love this version...its different but I like it. I think both LIbera's version and this version are fantastic

Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle, gentle autumn rain. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there. I do not sleep. When you awake in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft, soft starlight, starlight at night. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there. I do not sleep.

Few years late but: This scene is from a movie called The Snow Queen. One of a million adaptations. The story goes that a homeless boy was taken in by a mother(the woman he hands the sled to) and her daughter. He lives with them, becomes like a son. Then one day, the Snow Queen catches up to him by piercing his eye with a tiny minuscule piece of an evil mirror shattered centuries before. It makes him angry and cruel, and he leaves the family overnight without warning, taking the sled. As he’s leaving, the Snow Queen rides by, so he sets up his sled and catches the edge of her sleigh with a rope, and she uses it to take him to her palace miles and miles away. The sled falls from under him when she takes him onto her sleigh, and falls into the river - where the fisherman finds it to return it to the mother. Gerda (the daughter) goes on a quest to find him and bring him home. It’s a truly amazing movie, I don’t even think it’s an hour long. This song plays when Gerda sits at his grave, because he truly is not there; nobody knows where he is
