DO NOT TAKE CITYLINE TRAVEL!!! ❌🇸🇬🚌🇲🇾 BUS NEVER SHOWED UP from Singapore Lavender MRT to KL Sentral

Cityline is a new but probably now worst-rated Singapore express bus company for routes to Malaysia. I was heading up to KL for 2 separate events, so I thought taking the overnight bus from Singapore would be slightly easier since there's less work to do than travelling up to Larkin first. I booked Cityline from Lavender MRT to KL Sentral in the hopes of getting a comfortable overnight ride to KL, but alas, this journey was not meant to be, with Cityline outright not operating the service.
Cityline has been an extreme disappointment and they bring disrepute to Singapore express bus companies for such an untrustworthy service. Following this phantom bus incident, I will never take Cityline again, and I suggest you don't too.

Cityline bus is not popular even among the Malaysian community. We normally take either KKKL, billion star, Transtar, Starmart, Super Nice or go to Larkin and catch a domestic bus to TBS main hub. That explains why Cityline cancelled your booking, because it has no customer.

Because of this video (not your fault but Cityline’s) I am never gonna use Cityline so far I have only taken, Transtar, WTS Travel and KKKL and they have all arrived in time

Last year I booked Cityline to Malaysia. I booked and paid for the booking one month in advance. 1 day before I was suppose to travel, I received a whatsapp that my bus was "not operating" that day and I was informed to "rebook with another operator". I was shocked. Upon calling the company, I was informed that the owner decided to cancel the bus trip as I was the only passenger on that bus schedule. While I understand the logic that the company needs to make a profit, but how can the company not honour its sales to customer?! What if I cannot find another bus at that point? What will happen to my hotel booking as well? Citylink still promises many choices for timing and pick-up locations but do heed our stories and book at your own risk.

What a crook company. I must applaud you for your knowledge on how to go to and fro Malaysia. I dont know how all these work and have never heard of cityline

Just recently, I ride on this same company to & from KL. Bus is great but idk why sudden change of seat last minute, my seat is different according to what I have already book & pay for it. Msg & send email to company this is what they say "Sorry due to unforeseen circumtances, coach type has been changed...". Changing of bus to Malaysia I not sure why they do it before tuas checkpoint not even at malaysia making passengers carry their item twice. Going back to SG after clearing both custom there are 4 to 5 drop off point the nearest is Jurong East they ask passengers who is dropping at the other drop of point to change bus at that stop.

Always start trip from a terminal station like Grantral mall where many cross boarder bus companies had relocated to from Golden mile

Not the first time. Cityline has the practice of cancelling bus schedule last minute if there is not enough passengers. Not sure how many other passengers were with you waiting or you were the only one. For SG to JB, many like me are anticipating the RTS link. For SG to KL, I hope the plan for HSR will still go ahead as plan even though this video ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/enK6Y2Sbg7iWiac) strongly discourages the project.

There were at least 2 other passengers from Lavender MRT, and the bus would have made 2 more stops at Bugis MRT and Jurong East MRT, which I'm not sure how many passengers would be at those places.

Even if the HSR not gonna come into fruition, I hope at least the semi-high speed ETS is extended to JB Sentral in near future. That one and RTS could ease some pain.

I think you should report this to STB ( Singapore tourist board) so that when they renew their travel agency licences next time this will take into consideration.

I have already sent a report to LTA, and will consider sending a report to STB as well. Do note that bus companies are known to play around with closing and opening new companies eg. the bankrupt Five Stars Tours Singapore to The One Travel & Tours using Five Stars Express (Malaysia) buses, and more recently, Konsortium Bas Ekspres (KBES) SuperstarZ operating for Transtar.

This situation is considered to be extremely un-busy for Causeway Link standards. There is no queue looping around the bus terminal.

I had a terrible experience with them as well. They are liars and unprofessional. They put the blame on passengers. On 12 March 2024 I had planned a trip from Melacca from Singapore with my 64 years old mum. The picked up point was at ang mo kio. The bus left earlier than the expected departure time. When I called the driver why he left early. He puts the blame on us for not arriving early. He answered my call rudely and disrespectful. I made a complaint to the company. They were telling lies and the company insisted that the bus driver has nothing wrong with in this situation for departing early and not waiting for their customers. They put all the blames on me. I have to top up additional cost to take grab and went to queen street to get another bus tickets bus 707. Bus 707 is always the best one and reliable. I feel very disappointed with cityline service.

I'm not 100% sure but LTA may not have any jurisdiction on this. There is no specific cross-border express bus license for Singapore operators. onemotoring.lta.gov.sg/content/onemotoring/home/driving/bus.html Cityline's license may only fall under Excursion Bus as "Run unscheduled services where passengers pay individual fares".

LTA can only manage Singaporean public bus operators, not private bus operators like Cityline. Even though cross-border licenses are managed by LTA, the performance of these private bus operators are only up to themselves.
