After recieving my 2jz engine back from Miguel Harlaque aka Miggy Built, I noticed the motor was super dirty. Instead of putting it in, I decided to take it apart and have it checked. THIS IS WHAT I FOUND!!!

Now that depends. There are people who dropped out of school and became mechanics and could do literally anything when it comes to a car, and there are others that are well educated but use their intelligence to con people in the auto industry. That is very prevalent in dealerships and such, where the head technician will con you out of stuff your car doesn't actually need to bring the prices up,, and then never actually replace the stuff, just clean it up a bit. Whereas you'll find a mechanic working out of his backyard shop in the middle of nowhere that can barely spell his own name, but will have your car right in record time, charge you less than most other places around, and will even hook you up on small, quick jobs for free. Old head mechanics are like that. They didn't bother to graduate because working and making money was more important. They can't tell you the capitals of all 50 states, but they can tell you exactly how thick of a shim you need to put in to set the contact patch up for your ring and pinion gear just by eyeballing it, can tune a carburetor to near-perfect by ear, can fix stuff they've never even worked on before like they've dealt with that car for years, and can build a car from crap in a junkyard and make you baffled at how well it turned out. I've personally witnessed that last one. Dude came into said mechanic's shop with a Toyota camry that was rear ended pretty bad. The trunk was pushed up all the way to the rear seat. The mechanic got a junk car of the same year that was wrecked in the front for a couple hundred bucks. Wasn't even the same color. He cut both cars right at the rear floor board, welded the junk yard rear portion onto the rear ended car's front portion. The car measured absolutely perfect as far as wheelbase length and everything. He brought it to get an alignment in case it wasn't quite right, and the alignment machine brought up zeroes. The car had a perfect alignment. All that was left was the paint. He went and got the paint code for the original car, and painted the back half to match in his own backyard. The only way you can tell, to this day, that anything happened to the car, is if you look underneath the car and see part of the bead, as well as a little slag because he couldn't hide that portion for the customer, because it was in a gap and couldn't be sanded or covered. Trust me when I say the story about the mechanic is true, as that mechanic is actually my grandfather, and I was working for him when it happened. I'm actually the one who welded the car, and he cut the car where it needed to be cut beforehand and painted it afterwards. I know that story can be a bit unbelievable, especially in a car that had a unibody, but I swear on my own life it is true.

Said he installed "forged" pistons, rods, cams, arp everything. Well turns out nothing was done except for power washing the block which the block was cleaned beforehand. O also added cheap paint which rubbed off. Needless to say my engine blew at the dyno. When I tore it down myself. I discovered nothing was done. Dude took my money and took flight. I am now currently saving up again and hopefully I will have something I'm proud of within 2 years. Fingers crossed. Good luck with your build and God bless brotha.

Damn...I had a machine shop not do the porting on my head fully. They assumed I didn't know what I want and did a basic porting..which was choking the motor due to the cams. When I went back with the dyno chart..they told me up front..ok we didn't go as far cause the guy assumed it was going to not be for what I said was going in. I will say that when I brought the cnc heads with the new parts, they did take care of the work due to their error. Hopefully dude mans up on his bs.

What I don't understand is if he wanted to hide stuff from you and cheap out on things, He could have done that and still have the engine at least be able to start up and run OK. But from the way he put together that engine it was guaranteed from the getgo to not run at all and blow up, And he knew this, Any good engine builder would have known that that engine was completely garbage from the beginning, But he went ahead and sent it out to anyways and he had to have known that it would have tarnished his name and got him a lot of hate. so why sent out a engine in that condition knowing it's gonna ruin your name??

Very often people don’t realize how much time it takes to just clean all the components during a build. That includes from the tear down to machining to then mock assembly to check clearances and final assembly. You get what you pay for. Also I refused to run a customers powder coated valve cover on an engine i built for him because of how much sand and paint powder was in it. I had him sign a waiver that said if he runs that and not a new valve cover I’m not responsible for the damage. I can’t guarantee someone else work.

Wow! Checked him out on insta and he took no responsibility for what happened. Dudes put him on blast for how he anchored the block via fuel lines/injector and he danced around that shit. He’s up to no good and didn’t even own up to it. Some people man….

Coming from someone who used to work in the industry. A 1000Hp build that runs Reliably is not going to be cheap to build, you get what you pay for in this industry like many things in life.

I'm a air craft machinist. Everything has to be perfect and look new from the factory. That is up there with the shotty work I've ever seen. I don't know about cars. But we have a agency called the FAA certification board that we can report issues like this too and revoke their machine shop license.

Looks like you got the "ima take yo parts and use it on my build, u take all the scrap laying around the shop, all cleaned up" treatment. Sadly and typical... you will win in court. I've taken a man's whole life due to something like this.

If you wanted to see if they did the caps up right get a beam type torque wrench (old style and cheap) because they measure both ways and you can see the breakaway torque. New type torque wrenches might do this also - you would have to check if they do but. Looks like they cleaned the inside of the oil pan but not the outside.

When we pull motor apart we clean everything in a solvent tank. Then a hot tank for two or three cycles then back to a clean solvent tank and then on engine stand and we you a air gun that has a siphon hose put the siphon hose in dish soap and water mix and blow soapy water through every single water and oil galley in the block and clean everything then rinse with water then blow everything off with the high powered air compressor then when is fully dry we wrap it in bags until ready to be built. Then before being built we clean it all again

I work at a machine shop. We don't put the tin on motors. ( Won't put on valve covers or timing covers oil pans intake, ect ect.) Because one. People can complain about leaks when it isn't. That's fair. But what I've realized too is people can see in the motor. See it's clean. Next time don't let them put your tin on. So you can see more of the motor.

That is some shoddy work. Dang. Hope he gets his money back. A lot of pro engine builders blueprint the engines and keep paper work on them for their records. That's one way I have shaved through phonies.
