There are 6 feasts or harvest God commanded Israel to celebrate in the Old Testament: feast of first fruit, Passover feast, feast of first harvest, feast of final harvest, the day of atonement and feast of Jubilee. The new testament is the fulfilment of the old testament. On the cross, Jesus fulfilled the passover. On the resurrection day, Jesus fulfilled the feast of first fruit. On the day of Pentecost, the feast of first harvest was fulfilled as 3000 souls were won into the church etc. If we don't sacrifice lambs again to mark the Passover then why do we need to mark the first fruit. May the Lord deliver His church from wolves in sheep clothing.

@ooshinibos1 Bless your heart. I think it's good to give to a church to help in propagating the gospel and share the love of Christ amongst Christians by helping the needy. However, tithing is not for Christians. Giving cheerfully is what followers of Christ are encouraged to do. We are not Jews and not under the law. If you are respectfully interested in this tithing issue we can go deep. Yes give but don't give because u are commanded to pay 10% every month. U can give 12 % today or not even know your percentage and give 4% next month or even 15%. It is as you have purported in your heart and happily. Remember, a man who can't provide for his family is worse than an infidel. God wants u to provide in your home and also help in spread of Gospel bit not at the expense of your responsibilities. I am not talking about luxury needs but essential needs at home are important.

A wrote a piece about it a while ago both the people saying tithing is of the old testament and not in the new testament are both incorrect..We have been redeemed from the curse of the law, and we aren't under the bondage of legalism to tithing, but we should also recognise that tithing was a biblical principle before the law came along. The main motivation for tithing today should be out of love for God because he first loved us and out of love for people to bless them. We don't tithe in an attempt to keep the law, as a matter of fact we shouldn't even try (Galatians 3,10)According to Hebrews 7:17 Jesus is our high priest in the order of melchizedek and he lives forever, that means, right now, today Jesus functions as a high priest for us..the same opportunity that was given Abraham Just because the punishment for not tithing has been taken away doesn't mean we should stop giving.
