I cringe when people get "obvious" things wrong, but then I remember that no one really taught me all that stuff, I just learned it on my own out of curiosity. We should be happy that the people in the video got to learn as well, it's a beautiful thing really.

The fact some are saying Astrology (constellation religion shit) instead of Astronomy (science) that's sending me into a spiral. Like comon bro.

the planet question is a trick question, we comonly learn about the 8 planet that are present in our solar system but there is at least 30 other out there that where spotted by astrologist and scientist which are now having name like "wjux13673" for example

He mentioned the number of known exoplanets to be around 5000 at that point.

'Astrologists?' Seriously? 😂 What's your source for that? Your horoscope or something?

@9308323 english is my second language so i may have used the wrong word for it if it is what you are refering to.

@hugothibodeau6137 that's OK. Astrology is that stuff where people claim to read the future based on your "star sign", the word you were looking for is astronomy(the actual science about anything beyond Earth).

Now Pluto is part of other Kuiper Belt Objects.

our moon is called Luna, though I guess you are right that we call it "The Moon" a lot more, just like how "the sun" is actually called Sol. If we lived in another solar system, we would also the that sun "the sun", I wonder if that's going to be confusing for future humans?
@Proftrof

It is already confusing for some current humans

I mean, even our planet is basically name "the ground". I'd imagine every alien race names their the same in their language

Respect to the people who counted all of those stars, galaxies, etc

Ok, so they talking Obervable Universe, a Scientist did a calulation on the expansion of the Universe since the Bang and if the calculation is right we in our observable Universe is like a Lightbulb on Pluto in size of what we can see to how big it actually could be.

There arent more stars than planets... Maybe there is idk but the reason more stars has been discovered is that stars emit light so they are easier to detect meanwhile you need to have planets pass through the light of the star that comes to earth for us to be able to detect the planet which happens alot less

The moment I saw the thumbnail my 'tism took over. Technically, no _and_ yes, because stars are typically big or bigger, but then you have wacky stuff, usually *_the size of Earth_* , like "white dwarfs" and "neutron stars" (the former is what typically happens after a red giant, and the latter appropriately nicknamed "zombie stars" because they formed from a supernova where they sometimes spawn as "pulsars" that rotate at like *700 times a second* )

Yeah.... There are moons that are bigger than some planets, and official smallest star is a red dwarf that is smaller than Jupiter.

You are asking for too much from an average american prof

True. As an American, I can confirm that most of us are really stupid. I have common knowledge about most things and would admit if I didn't know or remember something but most Americans especially the newer generations are getting dumber each year.
@PlasmaMongoose
@PlasmaMongoose Ай бұрын
The average young adult American is college educated, so if anything, they should be smarter than previous generations, but they are not, and that is an issue.

Honestly this was hard to watch. The first question was something a 7 year old should be able to answer. I really just hope this was a cut of the dumbest answers he got. I mean stars in our galaxy and they say 12??? Did none of these people ever get out of the city and looked up?

Scientists made the wrong choice imo. They should've added more planets instead of demoting Pluto. We didn't change the definition of island after discovering more than 8 islands after all.

Sun isn't even that big. Honestly by stars standard it's considered to be on smaller side (thankfully for us)
