Nice & concise thanks Matt. You speak of not using struts to their full extension (end of motion stop). I am replacing 750mm struts but cannot find suitable replacements 10/22x(+/-300N). the actual extension in use is 680mm. Is this too close to 'end of motion' for a 700mm unit that is still readily available online? Your feedback would be appreciated. Thanks mate.

Hi Matt! The gas strut holding my bonnet open on a car, the rod is pointing up (from factory fitting). Should I change it around so rod is pointing down as per the instructions in your video?

Every car I've had has the struts with the rod uppermost.

I will need to lift a heavy door. Are you saying that I need to use only one strut? And if I use 2 struts how do you calculate?

He said always install in pairs. I don't know anything about struts, but I have always thought it made sense to do in pairs, incase one failed. My car has it installed in pairs, too. As far as calculating, if you find out the name of who makes the strut you want, they may have a website that you can go to for the calculations. Most companies that sell different sized items will try to help you determine what size it is that you need (so that you buy from them).

Do you know if it’s possible to fix a gas strut which isn’t aligned? Mine recently became detached from my bed and when I tried to reattach it the mounts were facing different directions, is there a way to rotate it?

Just had new gas struts delivered for my caravan front locker,fitted them but they wont compress

I'm guessing you'll have one of our vari-lift products fitted (it can be identified by a small brass valve at the end of the tube). These come charged to full force so they'll need some of the gas releasing to work with your locker. How do I determine the size of the needed gas lift supports? I need them for a very heavy cellar door that’s built into my kitchen floor. The only person that can open it is my son in law. Some kind of supports are already on it, but I don’t know the weight capacity or if they were correctly placed when installed.
