Dear Aamer Sahib, I deeply share your emotions and thoughts more importantly your love for music as also our historical past. Let me tell you, I was an Indian Diplomat and it was my deep desire and wish to get a posting in Pakistan. But unfortunately, I couldn't. However, I did a posting in Iran, Tehran. I once visited the border of Pakistan from Zahidan to see the land from a distance. I am orginally from Panipat and my grandfather used to tell me the good brotherly relationship he had had with his Muslim friends. I am now 75 and not sure if I would be lucky to visit Pakistan wich was once a part of Great India a land of Peace and love; a country of Budha who spread the message of love and compassion for all humanity. I enjoy listening to old music. I have some (50) cassette of old movies wich I sourced from Atlantic Videos in USA while on posting. The owner of the store was from Pakistan. Let me tell you that in 1981 while I was posted in Dhaka, a proposal to unite our nebouring countries was initiated first by Bangladesh. It culminated in forming SAARC as a Block. While it is still alive and Afghanistan has been added and Iran copted, due to India -Pakistan differences it has of late made no good progress. Unfortunately, Pakistan continues to provoke violence against India as well Afghanistan. Few factual errors I noticed in the discussion. 1. Master Vinayak (owner of theatre company that gave opportunity teenage Lata) was father of actress Nanda, not Sadhana, as told by the gentleman. 2. Composer Chitragupta had sons Anand & Milind, who became famous composers in 1980s. Sulakshna Pandit and Vijeyta Pandit were not his daughters.

Beautiful programme. It is nice to listen to Madam Noor Jahan and madam Latta Mangeshkar old songs. The organisers has named Madam Noor Jahan and latta ji as Latta mangeshar . Why not Madam Latta Mangeshkar. Why so?Just for me

Lacking the simplicity and fluency however appreciation may be given to artist atleast in first song of lata ji. I must appriciate Faria Pervez she deserves a big round of applause however I have not ever heard this song of madam Noor Jahan ji but she sang with good comand and perfection and feel of Madam full on thro. Saima Jahan also has a soulful singing. She has a very good and powerful voice offering the essence of madam Noor Jahan, Respected lata ji and some where of Alka Yagnik ji also. In last not the least madam Azra Jahan is very very close to Noorjahan madam surprisingly nice voice.

Madam Noorjahan was a finest singer but as far as female play back singing is concerned, nobody is close to Lata Mangeshkar Ji... only MD Rafi sahab had a little bit of edge on Lata ji but he happened to be a male playback singer
