I am a Slovak with Czech roots. Half of my family is Czech. I live in Slovakia every day together with Hungarians and Roma (in this difficult time also with Ukrainians) I have no problem with any nationality, ethnicity or race. I only dislike people who are hateful towards other people. However, there are hateful people everywhere in the world, including in our beautiful Slovakia, unfortunately. I wish everyone peace and mutual understanding.

Slovaks don't have a problem with normal foreigners, for example Chinese or Vietnamese wouldn't thrive here if that were the case. What we have a problem with are drunk English or Germans who shout and are aggressive. I remember one group of drunk Englishmen destroyed a statue in the centre. But we don't lump everyone together, and we know that most English people are normal.

I just found your channel, very interesting. Did not watch this video yet, but i have to write already my first experience with slovaks in slovakia. I had a slovak girlfriend at the time and it was my first time there. After a 15 hour drive we arrived and in the evening we went out for a beer. A guy next to me noticed that i was a foreigner and bought me palenka 😊 i dont have the girlfriend anymore but really nice memories from slovakia and the slovak people!

I am Slovak and I think we do not hate foreigners. It's justa bit tricky with especially people from UK. Dunno how it is in the villages, but in Bratislava there a lot's of young Englishman who came here because the alcohol is cheap and as you said, they just act as "dicks" :D Generally speaking we are not against foreigners, we just watch out when someone said he is from the UK, because of those "stereotipical" tourists. But frankly speaking, it isn't that hard to change our mind. If you respect us and act nice and kind, we will give back all we've got ;)

When you come to anywhere like foreigner act: 1. Be Respectfull to others, also to things / stuff and traditions anywhere. 2. Not everebody is a friend, first need to be little know about each other and then maybe can be friends. Use 1. Rule here. 3. Laws is different here, something is less tight and something is more freely. Use 1. rule. It is simple.

Love is not stealing and a woman is not a state's (nor someone else's) property. She can choose who to love and it's no one else's business. Even the idea of "stealing women" from somewhere seems somewhat ridiculous provided it's their free choice to choose a partner.
@Stanleys9752 жыл бұрын
on the same note, someone could be complaining foreigners (in our case Slovak women) steal South-African men. A funny notion indeed :DD

It's not 'all foreigners' that people hate, it's some groups of foreigners that they hate. And then they don't hate specific people, it's just the group that they feel dislike towards. One example. Muslim refugees. Say they'd meet a single muslim refugee and had an actual conversation with them, most Slovaks would be even willing to help at least a little bit. But then when we're talking about the large-ish group of muslim refugees, they're afraid, that there are dangerous people among these refugees, or people who would start causing problems. It's even more noticeable with Ukrainian refugees. When the war started, lot of people were ready to help the refugees. But as the number increased and the conflict dragged on longer, people started to hate Ukrainians. Not specific Ukrainian refugees, some of whom they might have even helped, just Ukrainian refugees as a group. Lot of that is fuelled by politicians or a specific group of people on Facebook. But the hate then spreads fast. It's a manifestation of the cognitive dissonance Slovaks find themselves in, but in that regards large groups of people suffering from cognitive dissonance are present in most countries, only the subject of that dissonance might vary based on the unique circumstances of the country in question.

Samozrejme, že sme opatrní pred islamskými utečencami, máme historické skúsenosti s ich útokmi na naše územie, Turci, Tatári, Mongoli...Vidíme, čo robia v Nemecku, Švédsku...Normálni utečenci z Ukrajiny nám nevadia, mnohí tu pracujú. Nechceme tu ľudí, ktorí zneužívajú sociálny systém a ani ľudí, čo by chceli z Európy urobiť kalifát.

They are dangerous. I am Slovak I had foreign friends from all of their world. I used to be very progressive until I ended up abused and when I saw with my own eyes how foreigners abuse Europeans and women, and how they are pushing their ideology on us. And this is not just about muslims. This is not only muslims. But many from 'developed' nations too. And btw I used to live in several European countries including England. I've realized only nationals can love their country. No one else is gonna love and respect your motherland and your culture like those people who were born there. This is what humans everywhere should realize. No ethnicity has right to take over other peoples nations. Wherever you come from, foreigners always come and attack you. I've witnessed it in every nation I visited and lived in for a bit.

I think in the eyes of foreigners especially Americans we might seem a little unfriendly because we don't smile at everyone and ask How are you if if really don't want to know. Otherwise you are right - people just hate tourists acting like idiots :)

Pretty good video. I see and read this kind of topic quite a bit. Other people on yt even explored how foreigners are treated here,like on one yt channel called André Traveller (not promoting,just an example) and he actually proved that Slovaks arent hateful at all, even in small villages too! Its true. Its like you said,people here are just less tolerant if you act like an i***t or get drunk..and do the same :D . Me and most people i know are actually excited and hospitable if a foreigner visits. ;) There are many of these fantasy stories about how racist slovaks are (even official stats said that we are),but thats just load of bollocks that someone who never ever visited Slovakia had made up. :D Although,there is a very small amount of people that does hate foreigners, like in almost every country, i dont know any of them. Also the gun shots may be from a firing range if there is some. It gets loud,thats why slovak gov. wants to allow silencers on guns to decrease the noise :D Or a construction site/mining activity. It used to be normal around the town i live in.

I would say there are a lot of variables here. Say you are a foreigner in Bratislava centrum and you sit in a restaurant - there is a chance that you would be charged more for some kind of service because it is expected that you have money and in centrum there is a high competition. I think this applies to many major cities Say you are a foreigner being mentioned in a news - half of the republic hate you because of political reasons such as = you speak english = you are american = we hate you Say you are a foreigner in a small village and you are about to meet locals - they are cheering and they want to know everything about you and about country of your origin. They are little bit clumsy because they might be unsure of how to behave towards you.

Goverment is so corupt now and Russian oriented. All the gangsters and Mafia criminals are being released from prison. If this wouldnt be my home town, i would go back to the west were i spend some time before i returned.
