My first parkrun comes to mind currently. Had been lurking online for some time and finally decided to head down to Bushy Park, and what happened to be the 18th Birthday of ParkRun. The crowds were absolutely staggering, when they asked for hands up for first timers and the support you got from complete strangers, followed by the run director saying `Welcome to this craziness, getting up for a 9am run every saturday will become the new norm for you`. Haven't looked back since :)

Enjoy your content. I’m an old (figuratively and literally) rower, cyclist but also have been running since 1977. A recent heart issue has oddly enough rekindled my terrific enjoyment of long and slow running. A comment towards the end of this podcast reminded me of a comment my old rowing coach made many years ago. We were sanding boards in the Canadian winter, and there isn’t anything colder than a Canadian boathouse in the winter, but he idly made a comment that always stuck with me. He said, “the only real value in our sport is how it draws us together as human beings”. The comment on your memorable moments reminded me of this. Keep on moving!

I'm 65, reasonably fit but never an out-and-out runner, and don't run more than 10k. These days, in my normal Peg 37s I average 26 minutes for 5k around the local hilly lanes. If I need a psychological boost, my Next%s will reliably take at least a minute off that. So even for a non-elite a carbon sole does make a significant difference, but I agree they are not for every day. In fact running in boots still has its place!

Great podcast, fab to see you all and clearly passionate about running, with lovely chemistry. Good to see Rick back, remember following him an Anna’s adventures in the early days! Most memorable run I have 2. First London 2012, I can tell my grandkids I ran the marathon at the Olympics and second at my local Park Run where a young lad called Henry wanted to give up, so ran together to the end. No idea of the time, just remember his smile at finishing!

Love this pod. Just invested in my first pair of super shoes, opted for the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro as the reviews were good, here's hoping they can help propel me to a sub 20 5k one day... Also I've just started learning about the running slow to run fast theory, for the past few years I used to run all my longer runs around 5:00 - 5:30 per km, but this week I've been on runs and aimed to just keep my heart rate ~150bpm and found my pace is around 6:30 - 7:00 per km, I think I would have been embarrassed to have run and post times on strava that slow, but now I just don't care. I can definitely feel the benefits in recovery after hard interval sessions and it also enables me to increase my weekly mileage by running at much slower paces, so it's definitely something I'll be doing more of. Keep up the good work :)

One of the special moment for me is completing a 56km UTMB trail ultra marathon in Thailand over the past weekend 18 Feb. This come after my first ever road marathon in Dec 2022. Never before did I run further than a road marathon distance, so the ultra marathon was a scary episode for me. I was not at all confident in completing this race. But somehow I managed to complete it. That is special for me.

Love these podcasts guys! Absolutely brilliant. Informational, heart-warming, and piss-taking, at its absolute best! I'm definitely a distance runner, and I never ever thought I'd say that, or complete an ultra-marathon, so my proudest moment was a self-supported 50mile run around the M60 (not actually ON the motorway), with a mate ... best running day EVER. Smashed it. Felt like I was on top of the world at the end, and even felt like I could have carried on ... but got nothing for it (apart from plenty of Strava kudos LOL). Even had to order my own pizza and open my own beer on arrival back home 😂😂 and my mate, who rocked up an hour later? Well I bought him a tech running shirt with the Strava route map printed on it, so at least he has a little memento 😎

Great stuff My best run (there are many to chose from) at least the one that I can't seem to forget. A 9 k run at 1 am( too hot during the day). There are these run that it seems that all fall into place and the run becomes magical. This run was one of those. Started with challenging pace and planned to negative split it on the return. Just felt for easy and increased the pace time and time again with no effect. I was actually feeling the pace by the speed I was moving . Felt like I can run forever and at and at non limited speed. Completed in an amazing pace not tired not slammed not any thing just in seventh heaven.

Tasting blood is common when first starting running if you're out of shape. I had that issue when I first started, wasn't concerned about it though, assumed it was due to my lungs being pushed harder than they had been for many years, transferring oxygen to my blood and some blood leaking across the membranes of my lungs... Later reading articles about the problem that ended up being exactly what happens.

@justalarvitar34119 ай бұрын
I’m 20, have never really liked running but only started my half marathon training in late September, and finished with a time of 2h16min in 90% humidity at 28 degrees celsius on the actual day on the 3rd of December . Was quite difficult because I ran on an injured ankle and a bloodied pinkie toe. Have been training since then for a full marathon in May, as well as a half in Late April. I know it almost seems like a back-to-back, but my weekly mileage on my runs for the year so far are 72km per week, was wondering how much to taper down to by mid or early March Thanks!
