Dolly wrote and sang it in 1974 (it was a single), recorded it again for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas soundtrack in 1982 - then The Bodyguard bought the rights for Whitney to use it for the movie. In fact, Dolly thanked Whitney for making her all that money. Fun Fact #2: The necklace scene was also improvised. Richard Gere actually shut the case in Julia Roberts hand and her reaction was genuine. She was hungover and feeling like crud so Richard wanted to make her smile and it worked for the characters so well that they kept it in the film.

Dolly Parton wrote it back in 1973 as a farewell to her business partner Porter Wagoner when she was wanting to start her solo career. It was not written for "My Bodyguard", but Dolly tells of hearing Whitney's version on the radio while driving and she said that she had to pull over and listen because it was so good. Dolly says that Whitney made that song her own, but it was not written for her. Get your facts straight!

The only one of the movies I never saw, except fir bits and pieces, was The Wedding Singer. I'm not a fan if Adam Sandler. I *did* like 50 First Dates but I watched it for Drew Barrymore.

How is "The Bodyguard" considered a rom-com?????? Yes, there is a romantic aspect, but it's also about someone needing protection from a stalker, and does not have the cliche happy romantic ending that rom-coms are known for. (Although admittedly My Best Friend's Wedding also doesn't have the traditional happy romantic ending either and I do consider that movie a rom-com)
