Amazing how the director uses a burst orange tint to telegraph to the viewer how hot it is.

Also didn't even mention people like Chuck Berry, Herbie Hancock, Bad Brains and even Living Colour. Even Etta James didn't get mentioned.

Also other musicians that should have gotten a shout out would be blues musicians like Robert Johnson, Son House, Muddy Waters, Elmore James, T-Bone Walker, the three Kings (Albert, B.B. and Freddie) as well as Buddy Guy because they were all black. Also, I'd throw in Charley Pride in there because he was a country musician who happened to be black.

it's the reality of the game "name dropping" it depends the personal taste from each other ;-) if I made, or you, or somebody else a list of artists, many people will say that some artists are missing

The song is from the film score written for the movie by Spike Lee's father, Bill Lee. The song is 'We Love Roll Call Y-All'. Recorded by a septet of top jazz musicians plus a string orchestra. The all-star jazz septet included saxophonists Branford Marsalis and Donald Harrison, trumpeters Terence Blanchard and Marlon Jordan, pianist Kenny Barron, bassist Robert Hurst and drummer Jeff "Tain" Watts. Almost the same group of musicians that recorded the Mo Better Blues soundtrack.

+quron jackson Teena Marie was a white soul (aka blue-eyed soul) singer people assumed was black due to her singing voice, and she was from California. And Teena Marie wasn't the only white singer to make people believe she was black, other people like Daryl Hall, Michael McDonald, Rick Astley and more recently Sam Smith have had people believe they were black too.
