That's a real disappointment that Amazon sent you a completely different brand than what you ordered. I own a Jean Paul TR430 that I bought alnost exactly one year ago. From the looks of it in both your video and after I checked the Herche website, the two trumpets look virtually identical. FYI, Jean Paul gets their trumpets made in China and inspects them in-house before sending them out to their customers. It appears that this Herche brand is using the same business model. Again, it looks almost completely identical to the Jean Paul TR430. I would not be surprised if they both come from the same factory even. The one difference that I noticed is that Jean Paul says their TR430 has stainless steel pistons and Herche says their M1 has monel pistons. Herche did not list any other specs regarding bore size and such for comparison to the Jean Paul. For what its worth, my Jean Paul has been pretty good. I have played it almost every day for the past year and it still looks and feels new, (but, I'm an adult and not a band student.) If you decide to keep the Herche, it will probably be just as good as the Jean Paul. However, IMO, it is still unaceptable for Amazon to send you an entirely different brand from what you ordered, even if it is practically the same product.

If it's the school's purchase, shouldn't the school decide whether it wants it? That written, this is your opportunity to review a her CHAY product, and to rate it for various companies. Like, most students wouldn't know the difference btwn a top brand and a cheap imitation. Explain to your students that this was NOT what you wanted, that there are other brands out there with a better reputation. So, what determines the note a trumpeter wishes to play; how hard you blow into the mouthpiece? Before i forget, my piano instructor told me the piano is technically a percussion instrument, although it looks to me more like a boxed harp, which is a stringed instr. What would you consider it to be?

It is a school purchase, but I am the Music teacher and I get to decide what instruments should be in my room. The person in the office signing the check knows nothing about musical instruments, so the decision is mine. I usually try to spend my budget responsibly and keeping an instrument that is not worth the cost is wasting that money. We’ll see what happens. Most musicians (or many?) see the Piano as a Keyboard instrument. I do as well, but other musicians see it as a Percussion instrument. Some do see it as a Strings instrument. Thanks for watching.
