It is saying torch.cuda.is_available in python in the virtual env returns false. But it returns true in the default environment. I've run the torch install command while in the virtual env, and it says it's all there.

What did you do with the first my_venv folder after copying it to the Stable Diffusion(automatic 1111, ComfyUI, Foocus) folder?
@ai_rncz8 ай бұрын
Hey, I just keep it as a backup on my PC. It's no more than a virtual environment with the installed torch python packages for rocm. You could also remove the my_venv folder if you don't need it anymore or just create a new virtual environment when there is an updated version of torch for rocm.

How to do the empty hard disk step to install fedora? I have around 30ish gigs of free space on my c drive and some important file I have to keep
@ai_rncz9 ай бұрын
Hey, if you have a hard disk with another operating system, for example Windows, you could take a look at shinking the volume and creating a new partition to install Fedora or another Linux distribution. As you have got some important files to keep, I won't recommend to run another operating system on that disk. In my PC I have two different hard disks, 1 running on Fedora and one running on Windows. For the Fedora installation you can just connect the USB with Fedora to your PC, edit the boot device to the USB in the BIOS and reboot your system to install Fedora. Folow the installation steps and make sure you choose the right volume or partition to install Fedora. After the installation everything should be running fine.

I'm using linux mint, will that work too? Or do I have to pay attention to anything special? (Sorry but I am a beginner in this area)

Ooh I'm not familiar with Linux Mint. The only thing I can come up with is the AMD drivers. If they work it should be possible!

Did you create a bootable USB of Fedora ISO with a tool like Rufus? It looks like your USB is not bootable at the moment.

M totally new to this. I've been trying to find a workaround for windows, but to no avail. Is it bcoz ROCm isn't on Windows yet? (even though AMD said that they'd bring it to Windows months ago... which is weird coz they haven't done that yet...)? If I have to go with this method, I'll have to dual boot; I've tried it with Linux Mint but to no avail - no matter how many times I've resetted the OS / drivers or tutorials I've watched. I have a 7800xt just in case but your bio says that u use a 7700xt so ROCm should work on the higher-end side...? as it did with the 6000 series...?! Just saying this coz if u have a Windows 10/11 alternative in the works, I'll gladly follow that one instead. Coz rn, I'm resorting to Arch at this point and learning an entirely new OS and am already having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi with it cuz I rely on mobile data... alongside a video of the most obnoxious Arch Linux ComfyUI install tutor ever. I however very much like the fact that your video is only under 4 mins long 🙏 .

I tried to get things working with AMD and Windows too, but the thing is that there is no ROCm version of pytorch for Windows, which is a nessecary library for AI content generation. ROCm drivers are available for Windows by the way, but until there is no pytorch for ROCm on Windows, you should stick to DirectML on Windows. But... DirectML is like half the speed of ROCm when generating images. I have dual boot too, 1 HDD with Windows and 1 with Fedora Linux. Did you take a look at the Linux Mint kernel version? I thought that the kernel version must be higher than 6.5 for Linux to get the AMD 7000 series working. Just hit a terminal and run the command ' uname -r '. Arch for me was a headache too to get things working. I couldn't get Stable Diffusion by automatic1111 working on arch with the rx 7700 xt. I would recommend installing Fedora, as a simple update with the DNF package manager after a fresh installation of Fedora was enough to get Stable Diffusion up and running with the steps of this video. Thanks for support anyway! If you are running into any issues, just drop a comment and I will try to help you or I will make another video on how to fix certain problems.

@ai_rncz9 ай бұрын
I haven't try to run fooocus ai on windows yet. It should be possible with DirectML. The thing is there is no pytorch for rocm on windows, that is why linux is recommended when using AMD gpus.

It is recommended to use python 3.10. For me 3.10 is the only version that worked well.
@TheModExperiment7 ай бұрын
@@ai_rncz I found on one forum that the "torch" does not work on versions higher than 3.10. Maybe this is why you need to install this particular version of Python.
