Quick thing we didn't catch in game that another commenter pointed out! Dillon technically can't win with the brain freeze mill he presented since he was in a final fortune turn. We missed this due to brains being fried after a 2+ hour recording session due to technical issues. However, he does have other ways to win on that turn in the list, namely giving himself protection from the One Ring and casting a giant Rolling Earthquake so let's pretend he said that! Also Shane shouldn’t have been able to cast the Offer for Birthing Pod, this one does matter more (and likely would have worked out for me better!) but we all missed it in game, it is what it is!

So excited to watch this over my lunch break!

FYI transmute artifact does not have an additional cost when casting it. It needs to resolve, then you sacrifice any artifact (so you do not have to inform anybody what would be sacrificed when casting it) and pay the difference as part of the resolution of the spell.

Tony reads on your turn you may cast cards with a stash counter, so how can he cast offer on birthing pod?
@colonelschwartz3578Ай бұрын
You are correct but it says play so on your turn if you exile someone’s land it’s worth noting you can play there lands from exile
@FarNorthMtGАй бұрын
It was a misplay for sure, this was our first games on new decks so mistakes were made. Funny enough it probably worked out better for me here if Shane didn’t use the counterspell there and instead used his Dismember to interact with the Pod line 😔

Sorry to bother you, but did I miss something? Did dillon make draw others in his final turn? At the end of the extra turn, he had to lose the game because of Final Fortune so the classic mill via Brain Freeze is not a win for him.
@FarNorthMtGАй бұрын
Oh yeah the classic mill via brain freeze wouldn’t work 😂 you’re right, we didn’t even think of that but he has other ways to win from that point, we kinda just were like “ahh he’s got the combo, it’s over” as the game had been almost 2 hours at this point due to camera issues, brains were fried He does have other ways to win from this point though, cleanest is probably to give himself protection from the one ring and kill with a giant Rolling Earthquake after making a ton of mana with Birgi/kitten and blinking rocks and such

Excited to see the new Niv
@FarNorthMtGАй бұрын
Ok didn’t want to reply before you had a chance to see it since I didn’t want to drop spoilers but New Niv is gas, played it in a handful of off camera games and it’s crazy explosive. Didn’t get to show it much here due to my brain fart but had I not made that error and held off a turn casting Niv I very likely could have pieced together a huge manual storm turn and potentially won on the spot at that point. Literal first game on the deck here so mistakes were made 😅 super sweet list though
@johnweinhandl8890Ай бұрын
@ thanks for cautioning the spoilers lol! Super sick

At 3:20 thats not correct, rule 3.13, you can always reveal any hidden informantion you have at any point
@FarNorthMtGАй бұрын
@@P3rvenc I could be wrong on it but I’ve been told by judges at events that while you can reveal your own hidden information at any time if you git probe, since the hand is an opponents hidden information not yours you can’t reveal it but you can tell your opponents what you saw in their hand since that’s info you now have! Again, could be wrong but that’s what I’ve been told before
@P3rvencАй бұрын
@@FarNorthMtG Oh yes, this is correct, i meant the probed player, if the player being target of probe wants to reveal his hand to the whole table instead of just the owner of the probe he can, you indeed cannot force your opponents hand to show the whole table.

The new Niv is interesting, it reminds me of Yuriko or Ob Nix in that it plays like a casual deck, but just does that thing so good it can hang with more conventional cEDH decks.

It’s really fun! I’ll 100% be playing it more in the future. I’m considering taking it to an event in December

Uhhh I don’t think you can cast that offer you can’t refuse tinybones says you can only play them from exile on your turn
@FarNorthMtGАй бұрын
@@colonelschwartz3578 oh man reading the card explains the card 😭 first game on new commanders, mistakes are going to happen. This definitely would have changed a lot for this game (and probably would have worked out better for me) RIP good catch though!

Which I believe means Ben would have stuck the birthing pod and possible won

@ no problem I’m building tinybones that one specifically so I was watching extra close lmao keep up the good work!!
@FarNorthMtGАй бұрын
Possibly! Hard to say how it would go without everything playing out but Shane still having the dismember in hand likely stops the pod line & allows me to not have Niv immediately die before I can cast a spell!
@FarNorthMtGАй бұрын
Tinybones is really sick! Shane was having a great time doing terrible things with those discard spells 😂
@worstcaseofcrabsever5510Ай бұрын
Very sloppy play from Ben. why cast silence on YOUR turn/? You could cast on Shane's turn in response to bottomless pitt trigger denying him spells that turn instead. Also bad play from Shane to cast end the festivities for no apparent reason other than boredom. Killing Tymna allows him to recast and start drawing cards again, why help him just to kill a few meaningless tokens?
@FarNorthMtGАй бұрын
Ben cast the silence because he would have otherwise been forced to discard it to the Bottomless Pit and allow Shane to have it, use it or lose it type of thing As for the End the Festivities… yeah that wasn’t a good cast 😂 mistakes were made for sure. he did get politicked into it off camera a bit with the logic of “more cards in hand = more cards to force me to discard” which wasn’t the right call for sure but it is what it is
@worstcaseofcrabsever5510Ай бұрын
@@FarNorthMtG OK. So Silence is an instant. So wait until Its Shane's upkeep and bottomless pitt is on the stack, then cast silence in response, screwing shane out of his turn. A far better play. Come on dude.....
@FarNorthMtGАй бұрын
He only had silence in hand and used it in response to the Bottomless Pit trigger that would have forced him to discard it. If he didn’t use it when he did, he would have been forced to discard it and Shane would have then had the silence
@FarNorthMtGАй бұрын
Or are you saying he should have cast it prior to his turn started, meaning cast it on Shane’s previous turn? I suppose he could have done that but idk I think holding it for potential interaction is better when Dillon’s deck has 1 card win conditions with intuition and Spellseeker. If Dillon had gone for the Seeker line a turn earlier he’d have hard lost to the silence. I’d agree with the call to hold it there.
@worstcaseofcrabsever5510Ай бұрын
@@FarNorthMtG sorry bro I misread the bottomless pit. I thought it was only happening on Shanes turn and everyone discards. I see now it happens on each players upkeep so Im the fool here lol. I'll try to stop drinking so much
