DO THESE SHEEP ACTUALLY NEED WORMING? | WORM EGG COUNTS

In today's video we are getting the ewe hoggs in ready to move onto fresh grazing but one key critical factor is whether they need worming or not. So in today's video we are looking a feacel egg counts and if the ewe hoggs need worming.

Fecal samples are vital in my opinion. I usually watch the "suspect" animals for a fresh sample. Then maybe a couple that look "fine". Watching the count keeps us from over treating and helps prevent resistance. Taking it in to the vet (and spending that money) instead of doing it myself keeps my vet in the loop as well. I WANT my vet to know my flock. Also... here in Missouri I am talking my "tups" and "gimmers" and "bites of grass" as well. That Cammy has his influences!

£5.00 a sample!, I need a new vet Just paid £60 for 2 samples. My vet must have known I'm green round the gills! I'm completely new to sheep and have 18 llyen ewes with lambs. The ewe poo came back a1 but she told me I have very low levels of cocidia oocysts in the lambs. She never told me if they where the 2 bad species, and wanted to drench them to be safe. As their all gaining weight well and already 7-11 weeks old I got her to agree to retesing in 4 weeks and seeing if the levels are up or down. Love your videos, thanks for all the great tips Paul

Very interesting and thank you Paul. The main reason it’s £5 is because I am part of a flock health club at the vets but usually it should be no more than £12

I always think it's great to get the faecel samples done cos then you can just dose as they need it send what they need it for. We got our sheep tested last week and they didn't need a dose either. The sheep look really well.

Interesting video about worm burdens we just dose everything 1st week of may just out of habit had to put crovect on lambs too as flies are here already ps seen some nice lleyns at Balmoral show 🤞
