The loot from a bastion is pre-determined so long as the chunk is loaded. So if you want upgrade templates, you need to wait for the update and find new bastions.

Netherite isn't gonna be harder it's just gonna require the upgrade template to craft, which can be duplicated with one scrap and 7 diamonds which are pretty useless when you get villagers

Don't make the game harder because they made something easier. I personally like infinite diamond armour, it helps you after you died and is still relatively hard to get (depending on the version).

So now I not only have to find like 4 of the rarest material in the game to upgrade one piece of equipment, but now I have to locate and explore one of the rarest and most dangerous structures in the game for an upgrade template too. I hope there’s more to netherite armor in this update on top of the extra durability and less knockback otherwise it just doesn’t seem worth the effort

I’d say it’s better NOT to do that. Right now, getting netherite is really easy, and Mojang knows that. They made finding diamonds harder for a reason. IT’S TOO EASY, so having it take longer means you’ll be more invested for a longer amount of time, and the moment you get your first netherite gear will be more special, because you worked real hard to get there.
