My belief is that Pattaya is a magnifier. If you have challenges in your life... then life in another country with a free and easy lifestyle can set you up with even bigger and sometimes insurmountable issues. Square yourself away pretty much (because none of us have it all in one sock) and i think life in Thailand and Pattaya in particular can be much more rewarding than you might have had before .

I think too many guys think their problems will go away when they move far far away but as you said, they can probably get worse because they also leave behind any friends and support they might have. Good advice Phil ! I was just thinking about something similar to that. I spent 2 years living in Pattaya and I was sort of "decompressing" from working for 40+ years in the States. I collected a lot of home furnishings and stuff that I had to part with quickly when I had to return to the US for medical reasons. For my next trip to Thailand I'm going to try to live entirely out of my suitcase and travel to maybe 10 different places for a week or two each. And yeah I'll not attempt it unless I have all my issues sorted before I travel.

Im 51 from the UK. I have been coming to Thailand for over twenty years and am getting to the point were I can relocate to Thailand. No drink or drug use but do struggle with low self esteem and low mood. The problem is the UK, the environment I live in. When in Thailand my mood lifts and life feels much more lovable and interesting. Also the people are much more accepting and have a much more balanced ego than the aggressive nature of the British people. For sure, I still feel dark days and have struggles in Thailand but they are much easier to deal with and life seems to have real purpose again. I think if I was to start drinking again, things would be very different and the UK would be the better option in that case.

Great advice, Phil, my two penneth would be have some sort of plan and do some research before you move. Think about how you are going to spend your time if moving alone . If you find yourself at a loose end and live alone in the Uk , it's very easy to fall into a liquid diet here in Pattaya. The potential is virtually 24/7, as you know. Taking an interest in a hobbie or two maybe useful I agree Phil there is so much more to Pattaya and the surrounding area . See you in the week

Swadee Mr EGG, I’ll be going back and forwards to Thailand for about 35 years. I’m wondering is there an Internet site or a location that advertise is for managers for bars in Pattaya. Thankyou if you can assist.
@LePubPattayaАй бұрын
No, I am not aware of any that exist. I would think very carefully before you decide that you want to be a bar manager over here. most of them don’t actually manage the bar, but I just basically hosts, nothing wrong with that in particular, but you are very much encouraged to drink heavily and you are rewarded for doing so. Those spots are pretty upfront about this at the start and it sounds fun, but it wouldn’t be something good for your long-term help. There is a reason why I don’t hire managers.

Hi Phil just watched your latest vlog very good advice. There a lot of very friendly Farang people here but you also run into and see many with all kinds problems, as you say who are we to criticise other people life’s we all have a passed it’s just how you deal with it. Having addiction problems here is also not going to to help because most things are easy available not a good idea, if you caught by the Thai police with aliased drugs you could be in serious trouble so be careful. 😊Thailand / Pattaya has a lot more to offer people if they just look around and get out and about. Keep up the great work Cheers Irish Paul 😊

Hi Chris, thanks for your question. I’m not a Visa expert but get us these questions quite a lot. You can certainly apply for a retirement visa. Sensible advice for first timers. Having visited over 30 times over 25 years, I have similar problems at home and in Pattaya.
