I sell a lot of media, and I can relate to the stock image comping question. If I want to offer the lowest price for a CD I'm listing, I filter by lowest price and match the lowest with real photos. I disregard stock photo CD and DVD listings because (as a buyer) I wouldn't trust them. I only compete with other sellers who use real photos. The biggest reason to use a dedicated "buying" account is if you source inventory on eBay. It's hard to send offers or negotiate if the seller can see your account and identify you as another reseller. They might even cancel your order if they think you're making a profit on their pricing mistake.

We may have an answer to this question very soon… I saw that other reseller and she told me it’s not proof to use in a claim, then I sent my question, and then literally the next day 4 packages all showed up as “shipment received, package acceptance pending”. Since then one popped into tracking, but I still have 3 in that status since 18th/19th. I’ll report back when I get to the bottom of this… I think I’m going to be out money.

I can attest from experience that a scan form is not an acceptance scan. If the package does not get scanned at the post office when the carrier returns, it has not been accepted. If it goes missing between point a and point b, then that's too bad. Neither Amazon nor eBay will consider it shipped and the post office will not pay out an insurance claim on the package.

Scan sheets, just like an automated scanner receipts are not considered to be proof of postage and if you make a claim it will be denied.
@nicpicker1588 күн бұрын
Yes, this is true, but not always.... that is why I have all my items scanned but my post office is not super busy, and I set them aside for them to scan later, and they always do. But a scan sheet does not prove that the item has been dropped off, just a number of packages were dropped off. That potentially missing package could still have been forgotten or fell behind the seat in your car and this is why the post office will not accept a scan sheet scan or kiosk scan as an acceptance scan in the case of a lost or missing package. There is not undeniable proof that they did have the package (until it gets another scan at least).

I think you are incorrect about sell thru rates… You must include the sold in the total number assuming everything else is equal, because the sold were part of that 90-day active. Example; 10 active, 10 sold. This is 10 sold out of 20 that were active during that 90 day cycle, everything else being equal. So not 100% STR, but 50%. Please correct me off I’m wrong.
@justinresells8 күн бұрын
Yes that sounds right, though in this video I was not calculating a proper sell-thru rate, but talking about seeing 30 sold over the last 90 days, which is about 1 every 3 days on average (90 / 3). And with 120 currently listed, if no others were listed, it would take approximately 360 days (120 x 3) to sell the remainder of the active stock if demand remained constant.

Just because your item has a watcher, that doesn't mean they clicked on the heart icon. eBay tends to add items to buyers watch list based on just viewing the item. So the items you truly believe have a watcher may not even be interested.

If your package is delivered after the last estimated delivery date, eBay goes back to see if there was an official acceptance scan within your handling window. A scan sheet scan will not count because it’s not an actual acceptance scan. Insisting in getting each package scanned is the best way to protect yourself from shipping defects! 21:47 Another KZbinr reseller I watched in a video this week said that when a scheduled item drops, it does not get counted by the algorithm as a listing for that day. He recommends using drafts and dropping the listings on the actual day so they are counted as listings. I don’t know if it’s true (does anyone really know how the algorithm works? I don’t think so.) but it seems to comport with what I’ve been experiencing because I’ve scheduled out my entire week and seen no uptick in sales like I do when I list every day. I’m going to test this out by scheduling for the afternoon and then getting on in the morning and cancelling the scheduling and actively dropping the listings. I’ll let you know if it changes my results.
@justinresells7 күн бұрын
You're right that nobody but eBay really knows and they don't share that type of information. But it is a good idea to test it out for yourself. Personally I don't think it makes a difference at all. Why would it make sense for eBay to distinguish between the two and make one more effective than the other? I can't think of a logical reason. Plus in my experience no one single factor (outside of promoted listings) has a significant impact on search ranking. Instead it's a mix of all sorts of variables, which makes it difficult to pinpoint what exactly could be causing a drop or rise in sales for some time period.

@justinresells8 күн бұрын
When you include items with the "Best Offer" option in an eBay sale event, buyers can still submit offers. However, any accepted offer will override the sale event discount. This means that if a buyer's offer is accepted, the sale event discount won't apply to that transaction.

Listing Frequency: My *opinion* is that activity of any sort is important, with extra weight given to how much you list. HOWEVER… eBay has shown through their shipping time frame that they don’t expect you to work on weekends, therefore, it’s my thought that it would seem logical that they focus on consistent listings per week (not per day). But I also *suspect* that they’d also like to see activity of any sort 5 days a week. Purely speculating, obviously.
@Gorgo800XP8 күн бұрын
Could the shipping policy rather have more to do the US post office? While my town has Saturday mail delivery, the counter is only open 9-11am and obviously not at all on Sundays. It’s my understanding that some post offices don’t have any weekend services at all.
@marklewis35798 күн бұрын
@ unless it’s different in the US (then here in Canada), my 2 day shipping requirements don’t count weekends. So, if something sells on a Friday, I don’t have to ship it until the end of Tuesday. eBay gives me the weekend off - even though post office and courier drop-off locations are available here 7 days a week. So I based my assumptions on that. It world be (arguably) illegal for eBay to favour your store better if you worked 7 days a week. And with that thinking in mind, even creating listings to be scheduled for 7 days would be unnecessary. This is what lead me to think that 5 day activity, with certain degrees obtained, is what matters. And that that activity MIGHT be cumulative over the 5 days. So, if you list 25 items one day a week, and are active for a certain period of time every day of a 5 day week, then eBay will look on that favourably. I don’t think they expect you to be a slave to the system. But having said that, based on ax recent email I received where they increased my limits (I have a store) and encouraged me to list even more, I suspect that someone who lists 50 items a week (for example) will be promoted more than someone who lists 25. I don’t know the algorithm… but logic is your friend.

not sure when this changed for filing a USPS insurance claim but USPS now requires the box be inspected on the receiving end, they have to take the box into their respective Post Office to be inspected to complete the USPS claims process. They can deny the claim if they determine the item was improperly packed or if you did not tell them there was glass in the box in which they would only insure it if you pay the extra cost of Fragile service they offer. The yellow Fragile sticker will cost an extra $ 11 and the box will be handled differently , not the usual toss over the shoulder and hope it hits the bin method !

Create a new listing and process through eBay as usual; otherwise, you will not have any seller protections should the customer claim they didn't receive it. Also outside sales is prohibited as is exchanging contact information (which you would likely need to do if trying to ship and process payment outside of eBay) Also eBay messages are scanned for these kinds of activities/communications and could affect you seller account status.
